ak's are pretty sweet, i went into a gun shop with intentions of purchasing an ak one day with very little knowledge of the platform. i went to pick one up off the wall and half of the gun fell apart. i was sitting there with like 5 guys watching me try to put this thing back together for the first time ever because whoever decided to tinker with it before me had even less knowledge of the gun than i did. after a min or so of figuring out how to put it back together and function checking it i put it back on the wall and walked out, very embarassed about what had happened...needless to say i still dont have an ak...

That's a 16" OBR with an optional CTR stock/RISR combo, topped with a Bushnell HDMR scope.

Thanks for the clarification. I'd be into an OBR I think...not really settled on the 16 or 18 inch setup. That being said, I hear the wait for one is ridiculous and the ones that are available are massively overpriced. Doubt I'll get my hands on one. i really like that setup though...

It's a tossup between the two. The velocity difference between 16" and 18" will be no more than about 50fps, so it's a pretty arbitrary difference. The only big thing is that the 16" is going to be louder, but it will be slightly lighter. The gas system is slightly shorter too, so the 18" will have a slightly more mild recoil impulse, but it's almost negligible from what I hear. LaRue reps will tell you that they are ringing steel at a mile with the 16", so it's more than capable.

Wait time is supposedly somewhere in the 4-6 month range right now, but will most likely continue to climb as orders back up in their queue.
