My new 2001 330ci...... Slamming it......

What's up... I'm 16 years old living in new york with my new 5 speed 2001 BMW 330ci with full dinan exaust, front and rear dinan sway bars, dinan chip...

I'm looking to drop my car without buying coil overs, I'm looking into getting H&R sport springs... It drops my front end 1.1" and my rear 0.9". Any other opinions on how low I should drop it without bottoming out everywhere in these horrible ny roads.

I can recommend the H&R sport cup kit... Noticable drop, but not too low. If your 330 has around 100k, your shocks/strut are probably shot so i would rec. this kit since! It replaces old and busted with paired springs and shocks/struts. I ended up doing front camber plates from UUC to get rid of some of the negative camber up front after the drop and save on tire wear. Make sure to get an alignment afterward too. Good luck

Edit: Just FYI the sport cup kit comes with RACE springs... the touring cup kit comes with SPORT springs
I have the Race Springs on my DD 325i

sport springs wont slam it. i have sport springs and i don't scrape anywhere. i'm very careful. i'd say sport springs are the lowest you can go and still daily drive your car.

I'm riding on Eibach Sportline springs, and don't scrape anywhere, so those are an option.

My Ride: Nothing as of yet.
Mine's pretty low on the coilovers in my sig. If I wanted to the frame could be sitting on the ground, so there's no real limit for how low you can go. I'm tucking a little tire in front and about half tire in back. I rarely scrape, but then again I'm pretty careful...even though I love the sound of metal against cement

You want my opinion on this? Maybe you know it already?

You're in NY, you drive in snow, you have potholes, your gf lives on the other side of a speedbump and because of her massive size, getting into her is easier than leaving with her, your driveway is too steep and you won't be able to get home ever again.

Stop looking at how it looks; spend more time driving it and noticing how it feels.

Start adding too many non-BMW parts, no telling what kind of car you'll end up with.

Anyway, I would have said something like this if I'd bothered, but I think I'm too old and too practical minded for you or most of you young ones to understand.

You just answered your own question.

No. Don't do it. You live in NY, that's the worst place to even consider dropping your car lower. You're going to be full of mechanical issues and scraped side skirts if you decide to lower your car. My car was from NY, and the underside of the sideskirts are insanely scratched up. I'm glad that it's not noticeable unless you look under it. Oh, and my skid plate was severely dented. I've got a ZHP, which is a little bit lower than the standard sport package, and if it's got those kinds of scrapes on the bottom then I wouldn't even go any lower than my car.

The owner babied the car other than that, it looks great on the outside. But under and a few places around the skirts...

QFMofugginT!!

Our cars are blessed with legendary suspension and performance components right from the factory. Remember, it ain't a Honda. Don't put a bunch of crap all over it, you're just asking for trouble and lots of lost money down the line. If you do upgrades, do BMW component upgrades. These are precision cars; engineers spent countless hours designing them to perform, and they'll fit your car exactly without frustration of making it fit.

How do I know you'll be asking for trouble by modding the crap out of it with non-BMW components? Or non-BMW recommended ones, at least? Look at like over half of this forum. Seriously.

Now, if you plan on tracking, that's a different story. You're gonna be tearing the crap out of the car, so get components designed for that. BMW components aren't designed to be tracked the crap out of

I think he went to a car show and realized that for his car to be nice it had to be slammed.

OP, those guys at shows...well, let me tell you...half the show cars only drive to shows. They also don't come out if it rains.

None of the owners have more than one other in the car at a time and they limit the amount of liquids allowed just like on planes...though in their car, it's because the extra Mtn. Dew might cause them to rub their tires on their fenders.

They don't put anything in the trunk because it's for show, meaning they'll use something else for the weekend getaways. Why? Because they'll rub.

...and the snow, speedbumps, potholes...and actually being able to drive 3-4 friends somewhere in your car.

But, if you lower it and replace the shocks with just a solid billet of aluminum, you should be fine...you could prevent rubbing this way, but I think it'd affect handling.

So, OP, how low are you going? (PS, don't forget many low cars are in places that don't have snow or crappy roads!)

I was thinking the same thing. My first car was a white 1976 ford maverick.

OP might be a child prodigy running his 5 million dollar internet business. I recommend him giving his car to charity and buy a real car. 330ci is for old people.

OP...your car has enough on it already. Enjoy it and fanatics. Just keep out of OT; you're too young for that!

Perhaps, spend that money at a driving school. You have a 5 speed...you have a lot to learn to drive it well. I've only had a manual car...for the last 38 years...I'm just beginning to get the hang of it.

Learn about the car, the maintenance, stupid things you shouldn't do, and all the smart things you should do. That's what we're here for...that, and to humiliate you (and that's really just for fun!).

It's be great if you threw some kind of tantrum now so we could have more fun with you. And, just remember, we're laughing at you, not with you...that's important to keep in mind! JK

Wait...wait. Are you a troll? Better fn not be!
