Attempted theft of my 2 week old ZHP :(

Well, I was going to lunch today to show my coworkers my new ZHP that I bought 2 weeks ago and I find my door lock popped off and my whole driver's door scratched up. My door lock is completely mangled and I'm seriously pissed. Any idea how much this is going to cost me? Apparently security said that earlier this morning 2 Range Rovers were stolen and a 3rd Range Rover was an attempted theft. They've had under cover cops driving around looking for these scum bags and no luck. I'm seriously debating to get LoJack. Although, I've been getting mixed reviews about this.

The black marks are from the finger printing dust the police put on.

Yeah, I'll take a couple tomorrow, It pains me so much to look at it that I don't even want to drive it. I drove my 04 TL for the rest of the day.

Yeah, I do with Geico. I have a $500 deductible and I'm hoping it'll be less then that.

Yeah, I'm grateful that didn't happen. It took me months to find this car.

I'm just hoping wherever I get it fixed does a decent job of color matching.

i don't BELIEVE they charge you a deductible on vandalism. it should be free. but don't quote me on that. talk to your agent asap and find out. if you do get back to us because i'd be curious to know if i'm actually correct

Sorry to hear OP.

I'm not sure why they even bothered. If they were even able to get in they wouldn't be able to get it started since the key is not in the ignition communicating with the EWS module... Unless they've got a hold of some sort of black market BMW stealing kit...

Sorry to hear about the car.

Can the thieves actually drive of with the car? Or were they after the contents in the car?

Sorry to hear that. You could get LoJack. LoJack also gives you a discount on your insurance, also might want to invest in the factory alarm. That thing is LOUD!

My 325i has a factory alarm, I would assume his loaded ZHP does too right? Anyways, Its not possible to hotwire a bmw unless you have a labtop to bypass the factory ECU chip programmable from the key.

Alarm is an option....not a factory standard.

Same thing happened to me last Thursday. All they got off was that little plastic thing that goes over the lock. Good thing our cars are difficult to break in to
