thanks a alot! updates have been slow, ive been doing alot of small things, like wiring and such...

My friend, who was overseas just got back in town a few days ago and we spent all day yesterday working on his built STI.

i talked to another friend who owns a body shop yesterday and got the ok to barrow his gun for the bmw strucktural foam, after that all i have to do is paint the subframe plates and my re-enforcment will be completed.

the main problem i am having now is that i dont know what brake pipes i need? should i just buy a generic kit and bend/flare my own pipes??

I think you'll need a double flare tool if you do your own.

I don't know anyone who has, but I almost had too back when I put steel braided hoses on my current. One of the rears was locked up and I feared it was cross threaded, was thinking I was going to have to cut it and re flare the exisiting line for where it screws in. Luckily I was able to break it free and it threads were fine.

I did read about it some in that moment and as best I can remember any basic double flare tool kit should work out for that.

last time i worked on it i tried to mount the brake booster but it was not fitting becasue it was hitting 328i plastic DME carrier so im going to switch it out for the M3 carrier and hopefully that will fix that problem... as soon as i get that mounted i will start bending my brake pipes and getting them mounted

i attempted to get stuff done on my car today but did not have much luck...

i dont know what my problem was last time but today i had no issues getting the brake booster into place, however i did notice that i will have to change some things around to get the DSC to mount, I also will have to wire in alot of stuff for the DSC wires, for some dumb reason i thought that the connector was the same but the ASC one is much smaller...

im starting to get very frustrated with this project and i really wish i had an expert around or someone who could anwser all my stupid questions...but i guess thats what this place is for!! e46fanatics has helped me through many of my problems in the past and im sure everyone can help me with my current issues, thanks again and sorry for the lack of updates

Good Luck with your build bro and looking forward to updates whenever they happen.

i put another order into thebmwpartstore.com so i should have some updates for everyone shortly, i have been thinking a lot about the wiring and i think im going to just dive in and cut out all the DSC wiring out of my m3 harness and add it into my stock one. Im still having trouble with the thin black wire on the EKP because the plug i took it out of doesnt seem to exist on my car (if so the prongs are round not flat like the plug i removed them from) ?? I also have to extend the wires that go from the fuel pump plug to the EKP because they dont reach the location of where im mounting the EKP (on the passenger rear strut mount area) updates comming soon

so i got some more asc/dsc wiring research done now while im in my business writing class... here are my notes if anyone notices any errors or has any suggestions as always let me know.

328 asc- http://wds.spaghetticoder.org/en/zinfo/E46_PA52A.htm --used this-also hoping its right..
M3 dsc- http://wds.spaghetticoder.org/en/zinfo/E46_PA65F.htm -----used this-47 pin-hope that's right one
328-----M3
1=46-front left speed sensor -signal wheel speed senso
2-45-front left speed sensor-voltage supply
5-37-rear left speed sensor signal
6-36-rear left speed sensor volt supply
7-2-diagnostic connector - diagnosis signal TXD
8-16-ground
9-32-fuse 56-terminal 30
10-15-connector can bus low
11-11-connector can bus high
12-10-signal processed wheel speed, rear left
14-39? Both ASC passive button-seems correct
16-44- instrument cluster control unit-signal warning lamp
18-41? 328 says connector break light/break light m3 says break light switch/break light switch signal
19-33-front right speed sensor, signal wheel speed
20-34-front right speed sensor, voltage supply
21-8-connector processed wheel speed, rear right/ signal processed wheel speed
22-43-rear right speed sensor-voltage
23-42-rear right speed sensor-signal wheel speed
24-47-ground

the pins i did not list are not the exzact same from ASC/DSC so what i plan to do is cut all the wires on my ASC plug/ Attactch them to the matching DSC ones that i will also cut. then remove all the uncut/DSC wires from my harness and attach all the DSC wires where they belong... sounds easy right?

i started removing and cutting all the DSC wires, after working on it for 4 hours and getting all but two wires out i needed a break but today i got the last two! they were the ones that go into the fuse box, and im sure they make a special tool for this but as usual...i dont have it... anyway here are some pics.

pic 1-DSC connector with all similar wires cut, all non similar still attached
pic 2-the wires my 328i is missing
pic 3-my insane technique to remove the wires (this was a minor nightmare)
pic 4-its all removed finally!!!

ive been really busy with work but still managed to get over to my shop and get a few things done, i got the fuel filter and lines hooked up, touched up some more things on the engine, mounted the flywheel and got my Powerflex bushings installed into my diff carrier.

things i have on the to do list

1.brake pipes
2.wiring
3.put together the rear
4.finish up the fuel lines and mount the gas tank

after these things are done the rest will be a piece of cake
