The whole thing, but it was the fragile ribbon wire that was damaged.

I have no idea, your ribbon wires look to be ok, did you end up replacing the switch?

only the passenger mirror wasn't working for me, well it was working in the opposite direction when I was controlling the driver's side mirror.

I would say you should replace the switch, or borrow connect someone else's mirror to your car and see if it works, rather then switching your driver and passenger mirrors around.

Ok, so the dealership just quoted me for 4800. They will change all the wiring and they still don't guarantee that the mirrors will work....

That's ridiculous.

Not even trying to find what the issue is. $4800 is alot, for just a trial and error solution which doesn't guarantee any fix.

Yeap, I don't what to do lol So i just took the wires out, not the mirrors don't move so it's not that annoying.
I am guessing this issue was caused when the previous owner decided to put lamborghini doors on the bmw, so all the wiring was done in someones basement (from what it looks like).
Everything else is still fine, but I think it will stay like this until I can find time to take it to a reputable bmw mechanic/electrician....

Also, they said that they will remove and replace the wire harness piece by piece to look at the problem... each wire piece allegedly costs up and above $700 CAD.

I don't think I would trust a dealership that forgot to put the airbag symbol back in the side door...
