technically it is...mod or modification according to dictionary.com means "a change made". Therefor it is a mod.
![]() Also, for those who have a roof rack, is there an alternative option for the oem, one that looks like it, but is cheaper and slightly lower? thanks |

So far we've all been talking about cosmetics.
OP, go and get a BMW Performance air intake for your car if you're still running the stock box. That's a real mod that will keep an idiot smile plastered on your face for as long as you have the car. |

About a year back, prices on BMW Performance parts were slashed from the source. You can probably find a BMW Performance air intake for your car in the $300 range. You can be proud of doing your first bolt-on performance mod. Working on your car can be quite rewarding... and you'll save a lot in the long run. Look to buy from another member of this or another enthusiast forum.
On the cosmetic side: clear vs. amber? The BMW OEM parts are always best. I bought my clears from Khoalty, but had to ditch the sidemarkers after a year and a half because they had yellowed so badly. Fitment of the sidemarkers was also quite terrible. I would recommend only OEM sidemarkers, which you can get from most of the vendors in the site sponsors section of this forum. The rest isn't so bad, but there is a perceptible difference in quality. |

Stock exterior is fine on these cars in my opinion... If your maintenance is up to date (replaced cooling system, filters, and fluids), I'd spend that 300 to "Shark" it. Just my $0.02

It's worth it. Would put you at spending closer to 400 though because you'd need a battery charger to complete the process, unless you have one or can borrow one from someone. Totally worth it though.

I didn't know people put roof racks on their cars for aesthetics? If you install a roof rack, you should try picking up some kind of outdoor activity. Mountain biking? Snowboarding maybe? It will be good for you.
This is what I did on my car first: Smoked LED tails Smoked Corners Smoked Sidemarkers Black roundels Black matte grill Flush mount trunk lid spoiler Then I bought rims and tires and broke the bank :O
