How to avoid your e46 from being a "riced up"?

I've seen some pretty shitty cars on here, no offence, and a thread like this will probably convince a person to mod their car in a more suitable way. Post your opinions, and make sure you specify whether its a sedan or coupe.

Pardon me for the title

All cars eventually become affordable to many a disillusioned teens that miss playing with Lego blocks and Transformer toys so they translate their adolescence onto an automobile. The automobile is their ultimate "toy" and serves absolutely no function other than making a car into a big ugly toy.

I seen a 2004 s500 Benz that once cost close to $100,000 sell for $15,000 to some local kid round here who put nasty chrome piping, ebay chrome mirrors and ghetto chrome rims on it. So why should any BMW 3 series be safe from a good ole' fashion r!c!ng out? It's gonna happen sooner or later as the e46 cars get cheaper on the used market.
