I like it

I pulled the trigger and just installed the following stainless Magnaflow 3" items from Summit:

2.5" Y to 3" outlet #MPE-10778 $27.36
Center In/Out Muffler #MPE-11249 $92.70 acting as a "resonator"
Offset/In Center/Out Muffler #MPE-12259 $92.70 behind the axle
3" In/5.5" Out Oval Tip #MPE-35171 $114.28 polished stainless
5 Ft. 3" Stainless Tube #BOR-30330 $89.95

Total = $416.99 + tax
A custom installation w/all the hangars, clamps, etc. came to $494.00 + tax
so grand total is $910.99 + tax.

The sound is quieter with a low tone rumble. If it gets to be too loud in the future I can always add a third muffler in front of the middle one.

Thanks Jim! From my research, for my application, a dual 2.25 out flows a single 3 inch, so for my application that would be counter productive. I have pretty much decided on a dual 2.50, just waiting for other parts. I see your in Atlanta, who does your work?

True, but I was looking at quieting it down without increasing back pressure TOO much AND keep it low cost. The UUC exhaust system that it replaced is higher priced and LOUDER - much louder with the Magnaflow header cat.

J&N Auto Service in Doraville, #770-512-0900, does the non-BMW stuff like this exhaust.
Carma Motorsports in Chamblee, #404-237-1001, does the BMW specific work like the AA/2 installation.
Gran Turismo East, #770-455-0347, does all the work that touches the wheel/tires - like suspension, brakes, alignments, etc.
Buckhead Import Performance, #770-874-1807, does all the ECU tuning on their dyno. The car will be there this week with a small glitch to fix.

Since I am not the best with figuring out how to post photos, I can take a photo on my cell phone and send it to your cellphone, then you can post it for me. Just PM me your phone #. I can only take an exterior shot of the rear.

TIA,
Jim

When and how the exhaust gasses merge is most important. It's easier to work with a single pipe (and a "y" cross over) compared to a dual system, not to mention it's lighter.
I'm glad there are a few people here who understand exhausts.. I'm sooo tired of the backpressure argument!
