Hey fanatics! I was wondering if anyone knew a good place to get my wheels powder coated? For a reasonable price...
Thanks and happy motoring!

I hear it's dangerous and can lead to fatigue and stress cracks which can ultimately fail on a track or worst yet, the street.

Xtreme Coating in Santa Fe Springs. They powder coated the wheels on my motorcycle. My wheels came out amazing. Price was reasonable, owner is very knowledgeable and has a lot of colors to choose from. They do a lot of work with Harley's so you know they have to be doing something right.

Check with the manufacturer of the wheel on whether or not they approve powder coating. Only they have secret insider data about their wheels that little paint shops don't. Shops are willing to take your money but you should be willing to do your homework. Here's an example of an AP2 Honda S2000 wheel that failed at an autocross after being powder coated:
3 out of 4 wheels cracked 7 out of 10 of their spokes.

Condition of your wheels after the powdercoat depends on the powdercoater. Reason for it cracking is because you can ruin the temper in the aluminum by reheating. If powdercoating was so dangerous I'm sure most powdercoating shops would be out of business. As long as you take it to a reputable shop you will be fine. Considering I own almost 10 sets of powdercoated wheels and neither of them has ever given me an issue.
