Help with Diff Swap
I had hoped to try out a 3.07 differential in my 330Ci (2.93 OEM diff) cause I picked up one from a 323 pretty cheaply.
Looks like the input flange (where driveshaft attaches) are different. I had thought that E46s swapped right in but obviously that's wrong. Anyone that can offer up advice on this? Can I easily swap out the flange or is this going to require a kit or something for redoing seals etc.? Here's a picture of the part number off of the 3.07 diff. If anyone has an ETK maybe they can help me research this a bit, see if this even can be done. Thanks

You should be able to just use the flanges from your 2.93 and swap them onto the 3.07
Try a search for more info on how to remove them. |

Mike,
All you will need to do is swap the flanges from your current diff. Very straightforward and not time consuming at all. I suggest throwing on a Z4 diff cover as well

Thanks gents,
I had dropped out the cross brace, heat sheild, exhaust, etc., then stopped. Luckily I was also doing the UUC exhaust so it wasn't a waste of time. Looks like I'll have to pick up a special socket to get that thing off. I just didn't want to take it off and find that I needed seals or something. Just to be sure, here's a pic of what I need to swap, the original as 3 pairs of torx bolts, this one shows four holes for the bolts and 2 larger holes for who knows. Johnny, the Z4 part fits!? Have a part number?

Mike,
Contact RichP and/or Ben from RE. Per Ben's suggestion (I believe), they installed the Z4 diff cover for Rich's diff swap. Try looking for his post on the install from e46.dtmpower.net
