The Scotch Thread: Stay out children....
Its about that time....
Cigars and scotch, 45 degrees and crystal clear out, fire cracklin away. Get that scotch, tackle that fretboard, and spark up those robustos ![]() What are you guys drinking? For me, the following: Oban 14 year Johnny Green On less expensive nights Johnny Black on the rocks, splash of Perrier Laphroaig 10 year... smokey as a bastard, great for the money Glenmorangie 12 If you had a sip of Johnny Blue once, congratulations. This thread need not apply to your e-balling and stupidity for bragging about a bottle that any actual scotch drinker can agree is about $100 overpriced. |

haha dick. I didn't want to spell the names wrong so I was going to hold off until I got home (silly, I know lol)
My cheapo scotch is: Glenlivet But, I also have a bottle of Macallan Cask Strength and Johnny Walker Blue (my dad owns a liquor store and owed me some money. I took this bottle as interest lol) that I pour a glass from every once in a while. I need to broaden my horizons and pinpoint which region I like the most (Highlands, Midlands, Lowlands, Islay). JJ, do you use whisky stones or an ice cube? I stick to one ice cube to dilute the scotch a little and cool it down a bit. |

![]() I stick with an ice cube, however any scotch worthy (we'll set the threshold at $70 a bottle) will be neat for me. Johnny Green, Oban, Johnny Gold, Macallan 18, Johnny Blue, and Glenmorangie 18 I will have neat, 100% of the times. Anything less i don't mind keeping cooler and don't stress about being watered down a bit. In fact, when I am not in the mood for another cocktail (vodka) I will fill a highball glass packed with ice, 1/2 johnny black and 1/2 perrier. take a few sips, put some more ice cubes in it, and drink away. there isn't even an 1/8 of an inch at the bottom of the glass of room, literally ice top to bottom i drank it that way to get me into scotch, and it definitely helped.... goes down like water and it tastes good for a cocktail. |

Does scotch taste better as you get older? I really want to be classy at the bar and order a scotch but would rather drink vodka or rum.
Please, stay safe.

I'm a big fan of Johnnie Walker but I really don't like anything higher than green. I also drink macallans. I either drink neat or with a splash of warm water. (Johnnie Red gets ice lol) EDIT: I just realized you are asking about YOUR age not the scotch...lol....ummm I'll go with yes!

how serendipitous I have actually just started drinking more scotches. so far had chivas and johnnie black. I drink them mostly neat occasionally with ice to see the flavor change.
was wondering like wines when drinking scotch what are the usual flavors I should be tasting? also how best to store it? room temp, fridge put in fridge/ freezer hour before drinking etc. |
