wow the Oreilly up the road from does free loaner tools. Just give em a deposit and you get it back when you return the tool.

OK...let me know if you can find the tools at O'Reilly's to pull the hub, press out the bearing, press in the bearing and press in the hub...without pounding in the bearing itself. You can use a slide hammer to get the hub out but that's not a lot of fun.

Keep in mind, while these tools are good with hand tools, using an impact gun will make R&R a breeze.

You could pull off the entire trailing arm...its not terribly difficult.

I think $55 to make the job much easier is a great deal.

Free isn't always better - especially on this job. How much is your time worth as well? If you value $50 over your time - head on over to O'Reilly's and pound it out.

It truly is bigjae. I learned from working on this chassis that the proper tool is worth it for several jobs: RTAB, Ball joints, wheel bearing, TDC pin, and cam timing.

Other mickey-mouse efforts work for the above jobs - but are not worth it.

p.s. If you ever need the Koch ball-join tool bigjae - I have the Koch "Master-Trailing Arm bushing kit E36/E46." If your new 46M has over 50k, I bet the lower BJ's on the rear trailing arm are threaded on the inside. Firms up the rear on corner exit with fresh BJ's.
