How do you remove sunroof interior trim. PLEASE HELP!
Im doing some black suede accents in my interior/headliner. One of the last parts I want to do is the trim around the sunroof to pull everything together, but I can't figure out how to remove it... Could someone please enlighten me?
Thank you, James Sent from my ADR6300 using Bimmer |

I think you can probably remove it from the top after removing the glass.

I had already referenced the second post, found nothing useful, and the first post doesn't mention anything about that part in question. Thank you though. Has anybody ever done anything with that particular part? I'm just worried it might seal and be ruined, and that fabric weather stripping/trim part is expensive. And I am unsure of whether the glass must be removed. Think calling and asking maintenance/parts at the dealership would help?

I changed my headliner a couple years back... you need to remove the sunroof glass, 3 bolts on each end. Make sure the sunroof is closed when you do it, not popped up. That way when you remove the glass, you'll still be able to close the sunroof shade 100%
Pay very close attention to the sunroof shade when it moves back and forth. you'll see the frame that it slides along, but you'll see another little tab that is responsible for opening the sunroof shade when you open the sunroof or pop it up. You need to make sure those little pieces in the same position when you put the shade back in. My advice... get very familiar with the way the shade opens and closes before you remove it, that way you know what you have to do. there are two clips that need to be pried out on the passenger side to disconnect the shade from the tracks. once you get the sunroof off and can see the mechanism from the top looking down, you'll figure it out... |

When you took your headliner out, the dome piece on top has a plastic clip part that holds it in, was removing the headline the only way to get that clip in and out?

It looked like it lifted up and the sunroof was in the way, just before taking the sunroof out i accidentally found out if you just push it in it pops right out. After 3 days to figure that out I feel like a complete idiot. Glad I didn't take the sunroof out to figure that out though... Wow

Last post was referring to the interior trim around the sunroof and my stupidity trying to get it out.
the one before is referring to the plastic dome piece located in the middle of the headliner. due to my over the top system one of the plastic clips that hold the dome part in broke and it wont fit unless I put a whole new plastic clip piece inside the headliner. I was curious if you knew any way to replace the mounting bracket without removing the entire headliner. Sorry for the clarity issues Sent from my ADR6300 using Bimmer |

ahhhh gotcha
ya the trim around the sunroof can just be pulled off lol.... the dome piece, idk... mine isn't broken but are you sure you are putting it on right? i would imagine one broken clip wouldn't cause the entire thing not to go on, make sure the broken piece is completely off and not in the way of it "clipping" in |

2 or, maybe 3 clips are broke. it's not that it doesnt fit on, but without enough clips it cant hold it tight enough. so it falls off within 5 minutes.
