How did you lower the CR without removing the pistons ?
Did you remove material in the combustion chamber/thicker HG ?

Cosmetic offers thicker head gaskets which lower the compression...they have a range depending on how low u want to go...

I know about this but i wouldnt want to increase the thickness of a MLS too much either.(the increased thickness is mostly offered to make up for having the head/block decked)

You keep saying Cosmetic ? I was assuming you were running thesame as me (Cometic) i have seen "cosmetic" HG's but not for bmw , thats why i ask

This sounds like a cool project but I am confused with the final specs of this build, do you still plan on running a turbo or just the twin screw?
How much boost are you hoping for?

Yes it's cometic but iPad auto corrects to cosmetic. The plan is to continue to the turbo but it has to be tuned each step to ensure each piece works as it should. It would be expensive and suck pretty bad to put all these parts on and try and trouble shoot. It depends on HP because I would like to see 600+hp. Also it's being tuned at this stage for e85 so that I can raise the boost via turbo (compounded) approx 21psi (8 on SC 9 on Turbo). But I also have nitrous 75 shot. So really, I'm working through my options but checking the boxes one stage at a time....

You've got a cam timing issue; who ever installed your cams most likely didn't use an alignment tool on the VANOS spline when transfered from the OEM cams to the aftermarket cams.

Actually, it was a fuel issue. 3 times more fuel than the computer was programmed for. And a very aggressive cam

Here's a pic of mine at 10psi with a small oil-leak:

I see 600hp guys use our conrods in M50 machines so they should hold for the power.
As long as you dont have any knock you shouldnt experience what my pistons did.

Pir4t...unfortunate for your pistons, I was running completely stock with 11psi and a75 shot on premium with no issuses. Perhaps the leak and smaller displacement played a role? Idk...i only know my engine so I can't speculate. mine have been fine so far...Hopefully we will see them hold well.

It wouldn't hurt to check if this tool was used to transfer the VANOS splines:

How aggressive is the cam? I've been around M54B25 race cars with 300 degrees of duration, and they idled fine. Surged a bit under 4k RPM at part throttle....but idle was never an issue.

260/268 degree....but car was tuned for 32lb injectors....I dropped in 72lb injectors as well as adding lots of air (30% larger TB, ported head, etc) fuel floods quickly...

FYI, those cams are mild. When measured at 0.050" lift, they are actually in the 220-230 degree range.

The TB size and cylinder head porting won't matter at idle. The air is going through the IACV.

The parameter you really need to look at when changing injectors is "Tau".
