jesus.
did you check your oil level?
red means there is something wrong with your oil pressure.

Check the oil.
Yellow is low oil.
Red is low oil pressure.
Money shifts are no good.
Pray it's just low oil.

Maybe big trouble

You force a severe over revving onto the e46 engine and no telling what is major damaged at this point.
Drive chains, gears, etc. might be damaged.
Get someone who knows their stuff to take a look at this.

You are asking questions that you cannot deal with the correct answer anyway, just take the car someplace and have it looked at. They will tell you what the cost of repair is, and you make your next move from there.

If we could give you the right answer from here, you would already know what it is and would not have asked us.

The yellow oil light means the oil level is low. Why the level is low is anybody's guess. When you saw that light, the first thing to have done is to stop the car and pull the dipstick to see what the level was, and then take the necessary steps to bring the level into compliance. You might have taken this opportunity to look under the car to see if oil was streaming out from anywhere, which it apparently was but we can't really know from what you said so far.

The red oil light means there is no oil pressure. Couple the red light with the engine's refusal to run and what you have is a very bad sign. From this side of the interweb, it appears that you have blown up the motor.

Your car is an E46, and the motor that it comes with is called an M54. For the sake of ease of labor, put in another M54.

Then buy a car with an automatic.
