How long will it take for the current BMW E46 M3 to be outdated?

BMW has released information on the all-new M3, how will the prices of the current M3 be affected? Has it already shown, or will it be more so when the new M3's already start rolling? How long will the E46 M3 still look "good" with the new E92 V8 M3's rolling around?

How "worth it" would it be to buy an E46 M3 as of right now?

completely relevant question that can be answered only by you. The E46 will never look dated to me.

If E30 M3 is still a cool car now, then E46 M3 will have at least 10 more years.

That's great! Now I can still keep this 'til it's outdated.

Does it matter? As long as you like it, consider it. A clean, lightly modded E46 M3 is still a head-turner.

Would I consider it for my next car? Definitely, but the maintenance, fuel economy, and an interior I've been familiar with for over a decade are gonna be the cons. I'm glad the next M3 is going with a 6 cylinder TT. The V8 in an E9X seems too heavy.

Honestly, if I were driving around in something else right now, I would seriously consider the E46 M3 as a replacement despite the fuel economy and maintenance.

I think it looks way better than the new BMWs being produced. So until BMW starts making better looking cars again, it will look good for a long time

The E46 M3 is already outdated.

Whether it looks dated or not is another question entirely. I still prefer the E46 because I hate the interiors of the Chris Bungle designed cars. I like the lines of the E46 but I have to admit that it does already look dated next to the newer 3 series (on the outside). The interior of the E46 and E39 are IMHO the best BMW have ever done.

Never. It's a fact of life that the older a car gets, while it's numbers are still numerous, the more things will be modded. So, never

No, people will laugh at your 15 year old ferrari. Best to buy honda. Vtec sounds so good and has much power. It will also run rings round BMW's in the snow.

If it looks good to you now, and if you keep it in factory condition, there's no reason to think that you'll wake up one morning and think it looks old.

I smile whenever I see a nicely kept old car; I see the passion and commitment someone took to not just keep the car, but to drive it too.

I have the ugliest car here, if you didn't know. Just a '99 328i in the worst color they ever made to go with amber. You shouldn't look at my sig, you might turn to stone or something.

My snowblower is almost 15 years old and runs fine. I think I can keep my car at least until it gets its historic plate in 2024.

Rinse your wheel wells, that's about it!

Oh, and performance/handling-wise/diyability? Do you have any complaints?

You do realize the S65 is lighter than the I6 in the E46 M3....
