Sold my 2002 530i 171,000 miles and got a super clean 2004 330ci manual 61,000 miles. My VIN number says the manufacturing date was July 2004. I've seen 2004's with a manufacturing date of April 2003 and 2005's with a date of October 2004. Is there any specific manufacturing cut-off date to declare a car a 2003-2004-2005.

maybe you're reading your VIN wrong, but all it will tell you is the model year, not a month/year of production. You'll find that on your ID plate on the driver's B pillar, though.

Tenth digit of your VIN should be a 4. But there's nothing wrong with a 7/04 production date.

And no, there are no specific cut-off dates for a vehicle to be considered part of one model year and not another. It's manufacturer determined.

From what I've seen in the past on cars anything build in or after August of a year makes it the following year model. 08/2003 build would be called an 04. Not sure if BMW has followed this idea my 330ci had a September build
