Blue smoke

Hi guys I have an e46 320d 2004 model , can anyone help me and give some feed back as to why my car throws out lots of blue smoke . I work away from home and while I'm away my girlfriend has been starting the car and letting it tick over for 20mins once a week for 4 weeks , I came home this weekend , and when I started to drive it started kicking out lots of blue smoke for about 10 mins . It's seemed to clear up now but what is the cause of it , have I got oil leak or turbo problems . Please help thanks
