yeah, I agree. I know why I bought it, everyone knows I'm very pro GoPro, its all I preach, but wow this little cam has me livid. I charged it all night in hope that it would be better in the morning. even did a wipe out and cleared off the last update because when I first got it, it was working awesome.... but still today, wifi turns on when it wants too and now I cant even power it up. very sad.

GoPro really did push the black out too soon, and now its biting all of us in the ass. I need something that turns on, takes a picture and works when I need it too... so far this thing has not been doing any of that.

I didn't know the new ones were having issues. It doesn't really surprise me but I do hope they get it figured out quickly. GoPro is really not a very big company. They experienced some very fast growth and I hope this issue doesn't end up hurting them badly.

I don't do anything cool enough to warrant the purchase of such equipment.

+1

My dad kept starting GoPro convos with me last year. I got the vibe that he was trying to gauge my interest in one as a possible xmas gift. In one email exchange I included some info about the mounts and said "I no longer do anything exciting enough to be worth video-ing" just in case he was thinking of getting me one.

I'm on the fence about how they work for diving, my road and mtb rides aren't exciting enough for anyone else to want to see. Somehow I think a GoPro vid of me sitting my couch arguing with people in E46OT just wouldn't be a thriller.

Back when I was racing and doing HPDEs, I'd have been all over one. Now, not so much. When the kickass ones cost $35, I'll get one just for giggles.

In the meantime, I just live vicariously though everyone else's cool vids, lol.

I don't do them enough to warrant owning the camera but it's great to carry around; it's party-proof. I always take it with me when I know there will be a ton of people wherever I'm going and I've gotten some great shots. It really came in handy when I was living at the beach too.

Just got back from a vacation in Lake Wales, FL - lots of good skydiving down there! Got GoPro footage of a few of our jumps:

There was a clip in DisneyNature's Oceans film of a few scuba divers with a Great White about that size. Soooo bad ass.

LOL. Can't say I blame her for that. Maybe she's not into girls.

She could have had that wetsuit off with a single bite and a flick of her head.

Wtf, they just let the umbrella frame drop from a gazillion feet up?

Its all fun and games until someone's cow gets impaled through the back.

So quick question for people who use there cameras (connected w/ chest mounts and what not) in situations that result in a great amount of impact. Have you found a better case/housing than the stock waterproof one that it is sent with? Recently when competing a Tough Mudder I hit the shutter button while going over in obstacle and it caused it to stop the recording. I have used my camera in numerous mountain biking/hiking/climbing instances and never run into this happening before. I know the simple solution is just to take a second and not be lazy and look down to make sure it is still filming, however just curious if other cases were out there. I've looked at the "Dive" case and may invest in that. I'd ultimately love a housing piece that does not have any buttons on the outside...just press it to film prior to enclosing it and then not have to worry about it. (Just had a thought of modifying the case? Remove the button and spring so it wouldn't have the possibility.) Any help would be appreciated.

Edit: After thinking about the button removal I looked it up some. The housing and button as a whole assure for waterproofing. However i think a viable solution will be to remove it and cute a few lengths off the spring or some portion so it doesn't protrude so much.

Second question, and please don't take it as blasphemy as this is the GoPro thread, but what is the overall consensus on the new Contour2. I was thinking about picking one up as a second camera to wear while doing these races for additional perspective and a sunglass/head mount. I have no desire to run around w/ a second GoPro on my head as I saw various people doing this and it just looked awkward. I've run plenty w/ headlamps and the like however the weight and distribution of the GoPro is not comfortable for me. Especially given these are 12 mile races and I don't want to be thinking about this additional piece.

Not going to lie, I expected more from this camera.

Got the black edition, and the video is always grainy, I'm using a 32gb card that gopro recommended. I also picked up the new car mount which at first was disappointing.

What settings are you guys on? For day and night.

I'm using 1080, 60fps, wide, autotune off, white balance auto.

I tried 2.7k and that was amazing, still grainy a little.

Oh and it freezes every other start up :/

The video only looks great with lots of direct sunlight. Any dawn/dusk/shady shots will be grainy and don't even bother trying anything at night.

On my Hero2 I use 720/60 mostly. If I had the Hero3 I would be using 720/120. The reason being 1080 takes much more processing power and not everyone watches youtube in fullscreen 1080p. With more FPS you can slow it down and action shots look wayyyy better.

I had the hero 2 also, but it flew off my car and I lost it lol.

To me the hero 2 at night was okay, seems like the new one **** compare to it, I'll try again with autotune on And see what happens
