Talking Facelifting a pre-facelift BMW e46

Hi guys,
i have a 2001 e46 318i sedan, which looks identical to this:

I am wondering how i could make it look like this (facelifted):

Has anyone done this? What are all the new parts i will need?

These will be the first modifications i've done to the car

Yes, this has been done before. Search the forum and you'll find some threads on this.

Or, check the link below - includes pictures, part #'s, etc. Good luck, I think it will make a huge improvement to your car.

I personally wouldnt want to ever do that. I think the pre facelift headlights are gorgeous. But I'm sure it could be done...

I never noticed how the hood lines are different between the style changes. Liking my prefacelift hood lines better.

Anything possible - but comes down to cost. To use M3 fenders causes other issues, you then need M3 front bar, AND M3 bonnet! Then the front fenders will look out of proportion with the rears...

It is a HUGE amount of work to do for little gain...

But if you were hell bent on facelift - you need front bar, bonnet, fenders, headlights and side indicators all from the facelift model. So a lot involved...

With the $ for facelift, you could have gotten a facelifted e46 in the first place. Or better, something with 6 cylinders.

good point about the fender looking different to rear, i didnt think about that

I was going to buy a new set of headlights anyway, since still have halogens.. and wanted clear side indicators already..
so all i need extra would be bonnet and fenders. sure the front bar is necessary?

Looks like it. My grill fell off too. You just have to jam a few flat square sized plastic piece in the hinges in the back of the grill to keep it nice and tight.
No need for a ugly zip tie lol

Don't bullsht. Look at the actual grill design first. No place for tape.
Besides, the hood is metal with oil, tape doesn't work.

I'm not bullshitting, I put duct tape to temporarily hold up my grille on the inside of the grille. It stayed up

My cars take the oil inside the engine. Never had a hood made of oil and metal.

OP if you have to buy new/replacement parts anyways then I can see it not being too much out of pocket. But it's going to cost a bit to do this. I'd try and find used parts for like the hood, fenders, bumper. If I were going through that facelift I would be leaning more for a different front bumper. Like maybe an MtechI or MtechII. But I do like the hood lines that are similar to the M3 and the new sidemarkers. Hood and paint are gonna cost you the most.
