Do you swap gears out all the time, or just ride out on the stockies?
road tires will be 31's? All you do to accommodate the larger tire is switch out the gears and chip your jeep so it knows what size tires it is running. If you are going to be doing it on a regular basis just find the gear that suits those two tire sizes the best. There is a list of gears along with the tire sizes they work with.

Gears will cost you ~$300 for the front and rear axles. The expensive part will be the labor unless you can install them yourself.
A chip for your spedo is ~$200

*Keep in mind these are for manuals. You will want to go a gear size up for auto

I had an 02 4.0 cherokee, that thing was indestructable. I swear it had as much torque as a disel.

I had an 07 JK. Overall it was a fun vehicle but the engine really sucked and Jeep was too cheap to design a bigger transmission oil cooler and as such the tranny can overheat if you do a lot of low gear offroading in hot places. They fixed it by adding a "Ding" sound when it's overheating lol. I also felt like it wasn't built very well. I took it over a dry river bed filled with rocks and my sway bar links gave out and I started to hear a loud click every time the Jeep went over something. The steering wheel developed this clanking sound which they couldn't fix and the transmission constantly searches for gears if you're driving uphill. I felt like I couldn't push it hard or something else would break.

If you're looking for a solid Jeep either get the TJ's or the newer JK models.

Went to the dealer today to check them out. Took a Sahara out for a test drive and liked it. Got it up to 75, it was stable, comfortable, and predictable. Believe it or not, they actually have 50/50 weight distribution. Had a very nice dealer that quickly convinced me OUT of the Rubicon. He told me the ride is worse, it's slower, and unless I am going rock climbing over boulders (which I never will) it is a total waste of money. I will probably get the Sport S with a few packages or the Sahara. They also had one of these....

But at 47k sticker, they are smoking the good sh!t. Also, due to wranglers amazing popularity, there are basically no discounts. His best deal was $300 above invoice. It really is amazing how far theyve come. My friend had an 89, and the difference is night and day. I think I want mine in crush orange, but still undecided.

Awesome vehicles. I would LOVE to get one, but the pricing is just silly. Years ago I had this idea that I'd pick one up used for like $5k. Nope - to et that low you're looking at one from the mid 80s with a salvage title.

The COD edition was a ripoff. It had knobby tires, different upholstery, a metal front bumper and that's about it, for 47k. That's way too much. Hell, the arctic edition they had was cooler than the COD model.

As for the pricing of the regular ones, the residuals of wranglers is insane. You can drive it for 3 years, and lose almost nothing off the value. It takes literally 20 years for them to lose 50% of their value.
