Thanks guys i'm not prepared to part out though.
We need a bigger car so if it sells i'll get a RR or X5 type of thing, if not sell the wifes car and get a CX7 or Forrester (preferred...).

nice car! but are u sure that 2005+ models are immune to subframe tears? i thought all E46 were susceptible to this, even verts. GL with sale!

This is correct. The 05-06 models got upgraded floor-pans, but they are still very susceptible to cracking - by no means are they "immune".

I was aware of the upgraded part as a friend had to threaten a BMW dealer with legal action to fix his and did all the research as part of that- assumed that meant they had fixed it...

Better change the ad.

Heh, thats exactly what i had to do! As soon as they got the letter from the solicitor they crumbled.

I had the same work done, but i also had them install the Turner re-enforcement plates. Even with them installed ive read its still possible to get a subframe crack

They are Avant Garde Type M310, low pressure cast so stronger and lighter than the gravity cast stuff out of China that is around most places.
