Clay Bar after car wash

My car has been with out a coat of wax for months and months. I finally have gotten off my butt and bought gold class paste. Being it has been so long I know it's best I use a clay bar to pre treat the car. What the best bar I can buy ? and also when I wash the car before should I stay away from the soaps that come with wax like solutions, as so the clay bar can really be affective ?

Any clay bar will do. Just go back and forth until you can feel it's smooth and not bumpy from the contaminants. As for the soap, you can use Dawn that will strip any old wax last. The clay will strip off the wax also.
