M54B25 engine rebuild

Iīm new here and I want to share my engine rebuild with you. My name is Honza. Cars and motorbikes are big passion for me from childhood. Cars of corse arenīt all of my life, I love adventures with scouts, nature, photographing, etc. Iīm from Czech Republic. This is little facts about me :-)

The reason why Iīm doing rebuild my engine is oil consumption. It is about 0,6 litre per 1000 km and it quite irritate me. Checking oil level, donīt forget... I like doing thing myself, so why donīt start with this project? I started!

Oil leaking isnīt massive, Iīm going to replace old piston rings, valve gaskets to reduce oil consumption. Also Iīm going to replace most of gaskets, o-rings, valve chains... ...you will see.

First step is remove engine from the car:

10 bolts and frond end is gone:

Next room for store parts and working on the engine:

Some new parts:

Draining coolant fluid:

Removed radiators:

Engine radiator full of insects and dirt after 260 000 km:

Disassamble A/C compresor, power steering pump and the engine is reade to going out:

The engine is out, I had problem with disconnect part number 3, link is here:http://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/show...diagId=25_0375
Problem was unlock the clip, because tooth is on other side, whitch you canīt reach by screwdriver. I try to sketch the picture:

Simply I bend the part by srewdriver in arrow direction and easily unclip the part.

Small pan leaking:
