Need help with DME and other modules

A fellow member here tried to help me scan my car yesterday for the "trifecta". We were using INPA and when we tried to scan the chassis codes for ABS and DCS all we got were error codes. Granted he has this software "set up" to read his car but we not only share the same model year but also the same motor for the most part. Both M52TU except mine is the 2.8 and his is the 323 (2.5).

INPA connected to the DME no problem and showed the two stored codes that I was aware of. But when trying to scan the chassis codes for my trifecta we kept getting errors. Unfortunately I didn't record what the errors said exactly as they came out in German for some reason.

My question is this; is there a setting that needs to be changed in order to see these codes? Is INPA a viable solution for what I'm trying to do? Is there a production year discrepancy here that we need to confront?

I'd really just like a software solution that can not only scan the DME but all other modules as well AND allow me to change basic DME things like reset adaptations and activate hidden features like lock the doors above a certain speed, etc...

Car info: 2000 328Ci production date of 08/99

Really? Nothing?

Judging by my production date, could it be something as simple as needing the 20 pin adapter since they switched to full OBD2 in 2000 production lines?
