jeffb325@DynavinSolutions - Being the font of all knowledge on these Dynavin units, do you know if the iBus/CANBUS is shared between the Radio and Android? I know you can get OBC information on the Radio side, I was wondering if there are any useful Android apps that could be used to provide more information - namely I am after MPG/KPG information.

There is no sim card slot, the TMobile comes from some default test setting they are operating in the dynavin factory. There is a 3G USB Dongle available that dynavin have tested successfully on their local network carrier. However there does not appear to by a single user that has used this successfully in the real world. So best not to bother until they have actually resolved this. Tether the device as everyone here has done.

Bluetooth is available for streaming as far as i know.

There are various members using Torque with success, you need a Bluetooth OBD II connector available on ebay (the working ones have an orange sticker with ELM written on it) And also a bluetooth usb adaptor. There are details of operational ones on the dynavin hacking thread here.

It is not clear to me, is a smart phone with a data plan required in order to operate the GPS?

I want to put this in my wife's convertible instead of buying a new GPS unit, as this ticks a bunch of boxes, but she doesn't have a smart phone and I don't want a system dependent on a smart phone. USB or SD playback, CD/DVD playback and GPS are fine.

If this does depend (the Android version) on a smart phone, is the windows version still available? I see on Jeff's site that it is not currently shipping, is that permanent?

The windows versions were just out of stock right now, we will have more in a couple weeks.

Would you recommend sticking with the windows version for stability and usability if extendability isn't a desire? I want a stable music and video player with a good GPS we can update. I don't need streaming this and that or a marketplace or web browsing etc.

I would like bluetooth integration. Can you answer from the steering wheel even if your car wasn't pre-wired for a phone (but has the phone button on the wheel?).

Hi guys, I been reading and finally got a Dynavin unit. I install the D99 on my M3 with the fakra cable and when i push the OBC icon nothing happen, am I doing something wrong? Everything else work but the OBC does not. I think it might be something to do with the fakra cable.

You need to check the Canbus Box is installed correctly, Its the small black box. You will also need to confirm you received the correct canbus box

My dealer made a mix up during testing and dispatched a canbus box from a D95 unit (they look similar but have different stickers)

When i installed the correct one OBC worked straight away.

Thanks for the quick reply, im at work right now but will check that out later. Also I notice last night that my back light is not lighting up. I check the fakra cable and it seem to be missing a pin for the illumination. Ill double check it later and keep you guys posted. Thanks

So, I've read a lot of reviews for the D99 unit and it seems it's got many bugs?

Before I shell out almost a grand for something.. I need to know..
The android side of the system, how would I get internet such as 3G while driving? (wifi isn't constant anywhere you go, and it's $30 a month just to hotspot with verizon... no)

Also, do the steering wheel controls such as volume, and the track select buttons work for CD/ipod/tv/usb? Possibly the Android side?

With the navigation.. how exactly does this work?
Does it work like any other GPS unit I'd buy, where it has a receiver and what not so it isn't an "offline" type of thing?

I just don't want to buy this and find out, I can't use internet while driving.. and things don't work..
