BMW e46 m3 Fuel pump

so my car wouldnt start a few days ago, trying to start fine, plenty of battery power and all electrics fine but wouldnt start. Left it for a day came back and smacked the back seat as i believe the fuel pump is close and it started. i thought maybe as i left the car on low fuel several times it just needed a good fill. Yesterday it wouldnt start at all only after kicking the fuel tank i got it going and drive straight to mecanic. Has anyone had similar experience? how much is fuel pump and labour?

I paid $550 for a fuel pump from Imparts.
I think if you put ignition on you should hear the pump priming. If you can't than its that.

Maybe your tank needs a serious flush out, sounds like you may have some big pieces of crap in there getting stuck in the uptake pipe. Either that or a loose connection in the pump assy.
