Possible Coolant Leak? (PIC)
So I've had my M3 for about a month or two now.
When I first got it I found this same spattering when I was washing it. I decided to wash it off and see if it comes back, well it's back. It looks like something is leaking coolant and its getting flung around by the pulley maybe? Any help would be much appreciated! Hoobie7 |

Waterpump, expansion tank, hose. Those would be the first places I would look.

Clean it up again. Get car to op temp (after making sure your coolant level is correct...don't overfill...stay below the max level), and then look with a good led flashlight while the car is running.
I think the ET is over on the right side of your engine, so think we're dealing more with something like bleeder screw, upper radiator hose. I don't think that's splatter from the pullies. I think that's coolant mist that dried as a fine dust...coming from a very tiny hole somewhere and being sprayed out like from an aerosol can. Though, in looking at that line of spray on your airbox, it does seem like some of it is getting spread out from the pulleys...so Therm is actually more likely than WP, since I don't think you have a belt below where the wp would leak from...but I could be wrong about that.
