LSX swap

So I'm waiting on virginia speed on a quote for the ls402 engine. I've contacted vorshlag about picking up their motor mounts and trans crossmember, should be available by january. Should have the engine by april. Car is my 05 zhp. my main concerns are the can-bus and rear suspension. I think when all is said and done, I will have a ten point cage installed and linked into the rear suspension. I'm guessing I will likely have to do a custom 3 link with a solid 9" rear to handle the power it will have. But, I'm wondering if anyone knows if maybe a built m3 rear will hold up if its tied into the cage? I'd like to keep an independent rear in it, but just may not be doable. Ideas?

made an appt today to drop the car off at midwest chassis to have the cage and a fab 9 solid rear axle put in the car with either a 3 link or torque arm suspension.

My comp crashed and won't be fixed until saturday. Ill post car pics then. And when tear down starts ill follow up with a build thread. Will be at midwest for about 4 months. Ill have him send me plenty of pics though.

Some pics of the car as it sits now.

The blue 335 belongs to a good friend, also the head service writer of the big BMW dealer around here. That helps a bit. His car put down 440whp I believe. I'll post my tear down pics when the process starts.

I can't see the pics, but I'm guessing those are of the other e46 that has already done the LSx swap.

I'm pretty sure the mechanical work will be easier than the electrical work. I would HATE to try and make the LSx and BMW systems talk to each other.

Drew, his car has the TT i6 with some work done to it. And yes, mechanically it won't be hard. Nothing I haven't built before. The electronics...hopefully vorshlag will have some good input for me when I get there.

I was laid off this week. So everything is on hold until I secure another job. Already have a couple interviews this week though.
