e46 Trans Poll

Okay this poll is for reference purposes and are for people that have done a Trans fluid change to help people that haven't.

1-What fluid and filter did you use?

2- how many miles were on the car before you changed it?

3-How many mile do you have now?

4-your overall impressions of this DIY and the results good or bad.

Thank you gentlemen

Dave

Well Dumb azz, when you do you usually get that they did it not how it turns out. I am trying to put together a resource for everyone and then it gets bombed by a waste of time.

Not sure which filter I used, aftermarket I think.
Castrol Import Multi Vehicle fluid went in at 135K, so I have about 15K on it.
Trans shifts great, but it did before too.
I didn't do it b/c I wanted to change the fluid, had to pull the trans apart for a new reverse drum.
IMO, if you don't have any symptoms with the trans, don't worry about it.
Mine had the original fluid, and besides pieces of the broken reverse drum in there, the fluid was in really good shape.

As with any auto trans, I suggest changing out the fluid and filter. Due to the price of repairing/replacing the transmission, the cost of an oil and filter change is minimal. People change the oil in their motor all of the time but they seem to think that the auto box is some sort of sealed forever unit. It's not and a bit of simple maintenance, will it going for a while longer.
