New air inntake and grom audio cable

Hi all.
Just wanted to share what I did this week.
Yesterday I installed a grom audio iPhone/iPod cable. This took some time due to the fact that I lost the instructions and could not find the cables in the boot at first. After a bit back and fourth it turned out to be a simple install and a great product. Good sound and great to be able to charge it while listening to music.

Today I got my K and N air inntake, which is my first real mod. It was a simple mod, and I was happy to both hear and feel the difference after the install.
Would like to keep the trend going and work more on my car. Going to save up and make a list and try to buy parts and get the work done on my road trip to Germany in the summer of 2012.

Just thought I'd share, thanks

Congrats on the install. Running the same intake in mine as well. Only suggestion is clean up your engine bay a bit.

i second this! engine detail should definatly be done soon! i mean, you can shave off like 5 sec off your quarter mile since you can wash all that dirt off!!!

how do you go about cleaning your engine bay. I was under the impression that if any liquids touch your alternator, then your alt could fail? Or is that just coolant....

Depending on how bad it is you could just start with a rag and some soapy water and carefully do section by section. Just rinse the rag out to avoid dripping water anywhere.

You got a K&N intake without the tube that connects the kidney grill air scoop?

Also, when the time comes to change out that filter, I'd opt for a AFE dry flow

I was wondering about this. Is it a direct fit with the K&N set up? And where would you source one? Only ones I saw are the full kits, not just the dry flow filter. But then again I never REALLY looked too hard either.

Water hits just about EVERYTHING in your engine bay when it rains.. I spray the hell outta mine at least every other month. It's not gonna hurt anything... Obviously don't get crazy but spraying it down isn't going to hurt anything.....

First mod thumbs up. K&N mod thumbs down. You are sucking in hot air plus losing hp and low end torque.

I put in the K&N mainly for the slightly throaty change in car tone. Thinking about extending it somehow and putting it lower, not as low as the fog light but slightly above that area hopefully. I really don't want to mess with the muffler/resonators. The stock airbox was just too quiet. And now I enjoy the sound change at WOT. If there was another option I would have taken it. I have read that exhaust tips can change the tone a bit as well, so looking into that next as well.

Like the mods. I have the same intake. You should look at getting the sock to go over the filter, it'll help keep it clean and keep water out. Mine will be here tomorrow!

+1 for the kidney air scoop hose

nice intake, look in to headers for a deeper sound as well.

Is the kidney inntake hose a must? And is installing new headers a hard job or is it a DIY? Can u recommend headers?

the intake hose will get the most out of your current investment. you put in a device designed to allow more air in to the motor but aren't allowing the maximum amount of air to reach the intake.

as far as headers go, it's strongly based on opinion. search for "headers" and you'll find a ton of threads covering the different types and supposed gains that they experienced.

I also found this thread helpful when looking at possible upgrades/DIY's

Ok, figured at the moment this would be the best place to ask since everyone is on the topic of intakes. Earlier it was mentioned to slap an afe dry flow on the K&N tubing. I know the measurements of the K&N and know what size I am looking for. I just don't understand the number measurement system that afe has on there descriptions and can't find an explanation for it anywhere. 3F x 6B x 4-3/4T x 9H in this is an example of a filter's measurements. What does the F, B, T and H stand for respectively? Any help would be appreciated guys.
