Outside Temp Display

My wife owns a 2001 325iT Wagon (That may be redundant.) She would like to have the outside temperature displayed under her speedo and tach. What is displayed there now is the time. I have a 2004 330Ci and I know how to change the display on my car but her car has no mode selector button on the end of the turn signal stalk. Does this also mean that she has no temp sensor? Her owner's manual gives instructions for setting the Mode using the Mode button but the actual car does not have the button. Her car also does not have electric seats so maybe the original owner bought the car without these options.
Does anyone have any ideas?

Mark

It was an option. There is a button marked "BC" on the left stalk if your car was equipped with the option. In addition to temp it will tell you average mileage, average speed, miles to empty tank, etc. It can be retrofitted, however the car most then be coded to work with the new stalk. This thread will tell you everything you need to know.

You know what's wierd? I have this page open in one of my tabs http://cgi.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?...m=140656963894

Will this fit a 2001 325i, it mentions 3-series but the M3 more so.

Yes, it is a universal part.

Purchased! ...er I was planning on selling my car. Maybe this will make me change my mind.

If PA Soft can't enable the OBC, you'll see this in the classifieds soon.

why is it a stealership, they used their tech's time, and their expensive equipment, and only charged you 50.00. Seems reasonable enough to me.....

Because everything else you get done there comes with a tube of KY and you can legally call the cops because you were raped and robbed... But I'll assume for the sake of argument you already knew that and were joking... Yeah, it was $50 but I know the service advisor and got a reasonable deal this time... But go ahead and call your local dealer and ask what they'd charge you to do the same....

That wouldn't be fair. I too know my local advisor, and actually worked with him as an advisor where I currently work before he went to BMW. Now, if I call the NEXT closest dealer, we may be on to something.

Thanks for all of the prompt replies. There are several BMW forums out there but this appears to be the one to come to for answers.
Thanks.

Mark- I've done the conversion and it is pretty straight forward. However, feel free to message me if you have questions. Good luck!!
