Headlight question - what is this for?

I've been toying with the idea of putting amber LEDs in this hole in the high beam side and wiring them into the turn signals. I'd like to know what it's for first. DRL?

The original headlights that came on my car had the hole, but no socket. This newer set has both, plus a couple other plugs I'm guessing are for xenons, which I don't have.

What research I did showed a parking light, but the illustration showed light bulbs going into a front view of a headlight, it gave me a general location, but nothing specific. Parking lights.. Hmm.

they're called city lights. they're a euro option only and they're just like the drl's. i'm not really sure how they're different i just know they're called city lights and are euro only.

edit: here ya go. pics are on second page. there's a few

City lights, eh.. Well, they serve little purpose after angel eyes & DRL's became standard with bmw, both of which my car did not come with. Looks like they are going to be turn signals now, Thanks guys!

I made these a few days ago to hold 3 amber LEDs.

Not sure if I'm gonna frost it or not.

I believe they differ from the DRLs because they can be turned on all the time

They are supposed to be a less intense version of your headlights, used for cramped city driving. Basically an early version of DRL's from my perspective.
