New daily driver, another 1999 328i

Got this car from work last week, it was extremely inexpensive for what it is, and I couldn't ignore it. It has two problems - blown shocks and worn clutch/pressure plate. Also some rust, dents, scratches, etc. It has 179k miles, non-sport, manual, 2 owner clean carfax, serviced at the dealership until it was traded in.

Since it needed shocks, I didn't really drive it last week. Last night, I got my coilovers (S/O to illirep) and installed them today.

So far I've only done a few things to the car (all used parts,) but I have so many spare parts and resources to find more spare parts, I'm excited to see where this goes. As of today, I've done Bilstein PSS10 coilovers, newer hood roundel, new rear license plate bracket, and leather M-sport shift knob. I have 17x8.5 et13 OZ Mitos in my bedroom, currently trying to score some tires for those. This is fun, having a clean slate to work with. I can't wait to get some PDR done.

Well, yes, but I still have the other one. Basically just bought this one for fun, and because I have tons of spare parts/mods to make it nice right away.

Looks identical to mine when I first got it. I always liked the style 42 wheels over the more common style 43's. TiAg is so common but I still love the way it looks, especially at dawn and dusk. Still wishing I would have gotten a manual though.

So I forgot I didn't post my wheels for it. They're 17x8.5 et13, I've had them in my bedroom for at least a year now. Excited to use them.

Interior is pretty damn clean, even came with early weathertech all-season mats. Period-correct. Sick

Has scratches, dents, rust

Passenger side isn't too bad

Driver's side looks bad, but actually it was treated with POR15 by the PO, so thank god for that. Excited to get rid of this nasty rust, I'm just starting to get into body work now.

Yup, sounds about right! Wheels might as well retain their character if the car is still a 6/10 exterior-wise. I'm thinking about blasting clear over everything and running them during the winter

Nice pickup! I think tiag suits the lines of the e46 perfectly. Can't wait to see your progress

Just scored an e39 M5 wheel with airbag for what I thought was a crazy deal - $100. Can't wait to put it on.

Thanks man. Thinking about maybe repainting this one Estoril Blue or something. So far it's just ideas being tossed around in my head, but I plan to fix rust over the winter and leave it in primer, and take care of everything as soon as it doesn't have to be my daily driver anymore.

Also I figure I might as well plug my Benz, the whole project is in off-topic here if anyone hasn't seen it yet. Once I'm driving this thing next year, I plan to do body work and clutch, etc. on this silver e46.

This was the last picture I took of it before the original 5 Liter engine was pulled

Got my e39 wheel installed today, it literally took me 15 minutes to do. Gotta love the torx airbags instead of the 'fish with a flathead' type. I have to say I'm a little surprised that it was 100% compatible. Cruise and all the rest of the steering wheel controls work, all the connectors were the same, horn works, and no air bag light. Sick.

Yes sir, I'm restoring it for my uncle. I'll make a thread for it soon. He actually has two of them...
