Which version of windows 7 do you have? If its professional or better, download something called "windows xp mode" and run everything in there

Well if you have an old copy of XP (or are willing to "acquire" it), you could probably just install it in virtual PC. Should work about the same. Or heck, it doesn't even have to be XP, you could probably use Win 2000 all the same.

So I uninstalled everything. drivers, scanner program everything. reinstalled it all and evrything seems to be doing fine. I wont be able to try it out till I get home this afternoon. Should I have the cable pluged into the computer b4 I open up the scanner software or plug it into the car first.

plug into car
turn key to "on"
plug into computer
start scanner software

thats how I think i will do it. edit as needed

I willing to "acquire" anything. I just dont know how to install multiple OS on one computer. this laptop is a daily use for me so Im not trying to make something unhappy in it.

I download what ever I would need to get it to work on xp or 2000

Like I said i got it all reinstalled right now so Im going to try it out later when I get home then go over to my buddys place. If it doesnt work I take what I downloaded and load it on to there and then reinstall it again.

I'm not sure as I'm still waiting for my cable, but your cable may only be capable of reading the ECU and not the other systems (alarm, ABS, etc). I believe these other systems are on a CAN bus and ECS Tuning is saying this cable can not read that.

Can anyone verify this?

I do see that.........now
CAN-bus only does the DME, Transmission(AGS), ABS, and the DSC.
Although; it seems I should be able to get into my K-bus so its not a total loss. It seems i will have to get the package from xcar for the CAN-bus but I atleast want to give it a try.

Ok, i finally found a how to guide on some of the features. I hope this helps for some basic features that everyone is looking for. Not sure who this guy is but props for doing this video.

so far at lunch time today went home and i was able to setup the following; need to reseach some more on some other features.

- 2min after unlocking w/o opening (i dont even want this now that i think about it)

looks like there are different verisons on this software. I'll take a screenshot later on mine, but i remember that it had a 1.4 something with 2009 up on the blue bar up top on the window.

Does any know what the following functions are that i underlined?

its sounds right, but to just be sure - does this mean once i start the car the doors will lock?

No, but you can do the DRL
