Yeah thanks!!!

Let me refine my question so I don't get stupid answers.

1) there is a pa soft scanner that seems to be a demo unless u pay about 650 dollars, it's only 67 or something

2) there is one from BMW technics that seems to be the real but only works on three vehicles and two hundred

3) then there is a scanner that seems to be somewhat taboo on a certain auction site for 32.

Can someone please give me a straight answer to witch one of these three might be a good choice, I'm looking to do more then just scan regular obdII codes and reset them, I do all my own work on my car and I'm looking to add a good scan tool

xcar360 has it for $32, or DealExtreme for $48. The full version of the software is free on the developers website right beside the link to the "demo" you mention. Regardless, each "BMW Scanner 1.4" kit comes with PA Soft 1.4 on the CD, they just have to call the package something else because, well, its a replica.

There is no pirated/stolen version of PA Soft, and using the cable you purchase with the software from the original developer's website is perfectly fine (even though the CD will contain the exact same program). Anyone who says otherwise on this matter is either ignorant or extremely thick skulled.

Would probably enable city lights if your LCM was programmed with the Euro defaults and the city lights were installed.

Dual boot or run it in VMWare

Because the email from them said so...I'd be happy to forward you a copy!

I ordered 2/20 and I got an email saying it just departed HK yesterday, 3/13.

To quote xcar360,

"Dear sir
Hello, sorry to bring you so many trouble. The item you order is out of stock right now. We will purchase it as soon as possible. wish you have a nice day,
Best regards
xcar360.com"

Seems they were out of stock, huh?

nm not worth arguing about this with people who don't know the laws

Not worth arguing period. No laws are broken by the consumer, you're getting into ethics.

I gave you all the answers as a reply to your PM, but the same has been discussed in this thread many times.

And no, there is not only the demo version. They have provided the full version for free on the same website.
And yes the cable is a replica made in China(what else is not).

If you think you are doing right by paying 650 for the same, go ahead.
The only difference may be the higher quality CD(which I doubt) and fancy packaging probably.

It is your ethics and only yours, not anyone else's who is persuading you to do something which you don't feel is right.

If I felt bad for buying this cable then I should feel bad for each DIY I did, because I am starving the dealerships. I should feel bad for each aftermarket parts I purchased because I am not buying the genuine BMW stamped parts and buying replicas. Heck, If BMW had a oil well, I would even feel bad for not using BMW petrol and instead using shell.
But I don't, I know what I am doing is not wrong. I would hate to download a pirated software, but when the software is available for free on the developers website, it is not Piracy anymore. I am just paying less for the same hardware which I feel is appropriate. Don't you shop around when you buy parts for your car and buy whats the best for cheaper price?

I never doubt you saying they were sold out. Your not the only person that got an email from them. I just think its weird that I ordered mine only 3-4 days after you and received it before you and I used just the regular shipping method.
But whats it matter, I got mine and urs is on the way. Well worth the wait.

I dont blame you and I dont question your ethics, just trying to give information on what would be better in my thinking.

I purchased it off ebay for a little more because I needed to code my xenons immediately and couldn't wait for it to arrive from china.

Just for reference, the CD that comes with the xcar360 cable has out of date software.

You can go to the PA Soft website, download the most up to date software and it will still work without issues.

Nice catch jfoj, I am sure that info will be helpful for all who were planning to use the CD software.

I used the software off the website because the little CD will not fit in my mac, so not sure about the software on the CD.

I got mine two days ago and today I bought a laptop with Win XP out of CL. I'm trying to code all the windows and roof to open with the remote and close via remote but I can't figure out how to do it. I don't know if there is a thread for just the different coding that we can do with PA soft or should we start one and list all the coding you can do to the car.
