That's the one I have.

That said, mine came with the CD but it was a blank so I still had to download the software ... aside from that, all was well.

Are you using the 20pin round plug under the hood?

Got my BMW scanner. Initially installed on a Windows 7 32-bit. Worked great the first time...able to read codes and clear them. Now I get error messages "hardware not ready" and/or "cannot connect to IKE" and/or "cannot connect to EWS"

I opened it up and 7-8 pics seem to be soldered. There are no connections to 1 and 2. Would this be the issue?

I finally went and bought an XP laptop at a garage sale because I (a professional engineer, mensa member, and builder of my own computers) couldn't get it to work on windows 7. Works with zero issues in xp.

Hmm, guess I'm smarter than a mensa member jk .

If you had that much trouble getting it to work, there was probably a hardware issue somewhere. I've gotten it to work on countless windows 7 machines. Even x64 machines work for PAsoft iirc.

fyi...I got mine working on Windows 8 x86 using the drivers that came with the downloaded PA soft. During the driver install, it did a continuous loop, but after a reboot, everything was working.

No disrespect, I'm not anything you posted above, But was able to run the program within 5 minutes on windows 7 ultimate. There is nothing complicated on this. Its aas easy as installing a printer driver into your new computer..

+1

Windows 7 Professional 64-bit, installation goes by fast you'd wonder if you missed something. For 64-bit, there's a post of bfc that has the download link to the 64-bit driver.

I agree it must be something local to that machine either hardware or software.

Lol, its been posted like 30 times in this thread.

Check if you have the round black connector in the drug bin under the hood. If you don't have it, you dont need the adapter.

Does this scanner report engine codes? I've change a few things like lights and locks, but I have never seen any engine code such as the famous P0171, P0174, P0313. Not even aware which section can display these codes.

Yeah I have the OBD 1 under the hood. I just thought that the OBD 2 would have full function on the cars computer. And I didn't feel like searching though 100+ pages at first. Then I searched and found what solidjake had posted. Its all good though.

the codes you get while using this tool are BMW based Codes, the PXXX are generic codes. SO, to answer your question, NO.

So you still need to buy other code reader to get engine code? I was hoping this is the all-in-one tool. Too bad.
