I agree, mine seems to be pinned correctly, connects to the car but has no access.

I am having the same problem. I bought mine from newegg (looks exactly the same as XCAR). I just started a thread on it as well.

I have accessed and cleared errors perfectly in all other modules, but DME not found.

I have soldered pin 7+8, which did not help. I am considering trying another software, but apparently I need another cable as well. INPA is the top of the list.

Also hoping to try my scanner on a co-workers 02 to see if DME scans.

Please keep posted on any progress and I will do the same.

Mine is a 2005 and I believe there is no connection under the hood if you are referring to the round 20 pin.

People....read, read, read. The same questions have been asked so many times it rediculous. Yes it will work with windows7.....LOL Ten bucks someone will ask that qestion in the the next 20 posts...

I was trying to find if there was a manual for everything this does. Quite a few asked but I never saw it. I hope I didnt miss a page (there are 64 of them).

Xcar360, since you are a sponsor, do you have or will you put out a manual? Im sure most all of us would like one.

By the way....what is the best oil to use......LOL

My issue is that it identifies my car as a 323. I have a 2004 325iC convertible. What gives?

Katajama, if your car is left hand drive, look under the dash next to the trunk release/hood release. There should be a rectangular cover over the obdII port. Pull down on the cover and plug in the scan tool.

OR....type in BMW OBD port location on google and use the image tab.....

well... Thats not problem. I sure can find obd connector under the dash, but the problem is that bmw scanner can't find car at all. Connector is connected but software cant find anything with scan.

What Operating system are you using?
Is your problem, the computer not finding the car or computer not finding the scanner? The computer should give you an indication of USB device connected when you connect the scanner to the car and and turn the car ON.
Also, does the light on the scanner turn ON when you connect to the OBD port? The lights are there but may be covered with the BMW scanner sticker. Just peel it a little and check. The lights should turn RED when you connect the scanner to the port, and Green when its doing some work(I believe).
You might have a OBD port issue or the scanner itself is not working, or the USB cable is defective.
Try any other OBD scanner on the port to see if you can read anything. That will isolate the issue, whether its a OBD port issue or scanner issue.

Also, check the fuses. Not sure about e46 but other cars do have OBD port fuse. So, make sure your OBD port is getting proper power by checking the fuses.

If you car is 01+ there will not be a round connector under the hood.

I am running bmw scanner on macbook with xp loaded on parallels. When I connect the scanner to the car, I get a pop up whether I want to use the device with xp or mac, I choose xp and I get the USB device notification on the system tray on the XP.

pins 1+2 and 7+8 need to be soldered on what ever unit you buy
It's Ilegal to brake the law
It will not run crysis
it will pass emissions
your errors are your own

I am having the same issue but i cannot connect to the LCM. But i am wondering if there might be an actual problem.I just purchased the bmw scanner from new egg as well. the same one pictured above. It was not finding hardly any modules. i was able to find almost everything by sodering the 7+8 pins together but i still cannot connect to the LCM. I tested this with the same results on windows 8,7 and xp. The IKE is giving a data filing difference error to the LCM. Is it a logical assumption that there could be an actual connection problem with the LCM module and thats why i cannot connect with it and thats why the IKE has the error because it sees null values from the LCM that obviously wouldnt match the DATA on the IKE?


IKE -> BE/C8 - Data-filing difference to central light module (LCM)
BF/C8 - Internal fault, EEPROM checksum, coding incorrect/incomplete

I've never gotten a red light on the scanner when it was connected to my OBD port. Only 2 green lights. And I have hooked other scanners to the port and they worked fine so I know the car isn't the problem. I guess I need to try a new USB cable and check to see if pins 7 + 8 are soldered together.

I have wasted 2 hours trying to make this work. All drivers were installed fine. No matter what I do it says "hardware not ready error." Also, it shows the unit as connected when i plug into the computer (green light). When I then plug into the car, light instantly turns yellow and shows as unit is not connected with "hardware not ready" error. Software was installed on Windows xp machine. I have a peake code reader as well and it connects fine. bought from xcar360

are the lights supposed to be illuminated on the scanner?
