Will this scanner work on my E46?

E46 is not listed, but looks similar to the other units. Will this scanner work on my E46? http://www.ebay.com/itm/261227419854...84.m1497.l2649

Thanks in advance for any info!

Any issues known using the scanner with an 06 325. It works great on my 2001 but I hooked it up to the 2006 and a window came up stating to turn on the ignition then it wouldn't hook up to the car.

Is there actually a step by step on the order of starting the scanner.

We had it plugged in then the laptop was started and the ignition was turned on but couldn't get it to hook up with the car.

I assume that the 2006 is still an E46. Am I correct?

Any step by step instructions on starting the scanner?

You can probably read the codes but not program or reset service lights. Just buy the version from xcar or any other China retailer for cheap.

You need a computer running XP unless someone can tell me how to get it to work with Vista or 7. The vendors claim it only works with XP.
I am looking to buy a cheap XP laptop right now, just to try it.

Follow the directions with the download or the CD included. Make sure you have your WIFI turned OFF!

I have installed this on several XP and W7 laptops... No issues when installed correctly.

Thanks! I think I have that driver but I'll do it exactly like you suggested. I have it set to run in XP compatibility mode.

Will that work with a generic USB cable or just the Chinese one sold on eBay?

Just received my PA Soft 1.4 china replica today. I bought from amazon on the 14th for $23.80 and I got it today. I have been able to activate my motion sensor alarm and all windows without sunroof open/ all openings close with remote and key. BMW service was suppose to activate these on multi-able occasions and never could. SO I am thrilled. My one question is under "car ident" section the only thing that shows up is my mileage... Why is that?

I am also running the program on my mac through a parallel with XP no problem.

So I was thinking...since my scanner just sits in my garage, I would be willing to ship it to another forum member...you can make your changes, then ship it back...all you do is pay for shipping.

Heck, if we can get a few people interested, we can arrange it to be shipped directly to the next member.

You will need to PM with your real contact/mailing info, and a phone number I can call to confirm.

Would include the BMW scanner w/ Pa Soft 1.4.0 & cable, as shown below.

What do you think?

Sorry to those who replied...I didnt even realize I was getting PMs on this, even tho I said specifically to PM me. I get the Darwin award of the day.

Heres what Im doing...I sent it to the first user, that user uses it, then pays for shipping to the next user, and so on, and so on. If no user immediately wants it, that user will simply hang on to it until the next user wants it.

It cost $8 to ship from Ohio to Florida to give you an idea on shipping cost...a great value for us who just want to make one or few permanent changes.

Anyway, the scanner is on its way to a user right now, for best results email me at "ckg[at sign]osu.edu" with your information.

Regards.
~Chris

Wonder when this will get "lost" but thumbs up for your faith in humanity!
Really nice of you to do but once I finally get to it I think I will end up buying my own since I always like to play with these things and will eventually dabble further and further haha

Just Received my BMW Scanner 1.4.0 - PA Soft

I just received the BMW Scanner 1.4.0. I will be installing it on my laptop running Windows XP.

I would appreciate input from others who have this scanner and what they have done and/or problems they have run in to.

I understand that this software can really cause problems if you don't know what you're doing. To prevent myself from doing this, I would like opinions and suggestions on exactly how to read and reset codes. My CEL light is on due to my CAI filter coming off while driving on a rough stretch of road. I want to reset the codes so the light goes off.

I also understand that there is a problem with running the car battery down.
I've read a lot of info about this scanner, but there is Soooooo much to read, I would just like opinions and suggestions on how to use this to reset codes and maybe reset some default settings like the lights and windows.

Ok need some help from more experienced members. Got my 20 pin adapter today. Still getting an IKE and EWS connection error. Pa soft loads, using com port 10 (prolific-USB-serial driver) running win7 32. Any ideas why I can't make a connection? I have pins 7/8 jumped out on the 16pin portion of USB adapter. I'd really appreciate any ideas. Thanks a mil

Yeah...there is so much in the thread, it's hard to find exactly what I'm looking for. It would probably take an hour or more to read it all.

Just looking for some streamlined answers.
