Vanos hub fixed

This was a failed exhaust hub that my brother and I modified. The new tabs are made from 4130 chrome moly. The ring is pressed over the hub .250 then tig welded with 312 ss. The dimension are the same other than the tabs being thicker. We need more hubs too fix so if you have one let me know

Was the new hub put in a car for testing? Glad to see someone is coming up with options on this issue. Good luck!

Great stuff turbotoy.

I don't care if the other forum shot down your idea. I applaud your ingenuity, and ability to get it done.

If my hub sh1ts the bed, I'd be happy to give the 4130 chromoly a shot.

Regards,
Mike

I will post when I get more miles on it also going to take it out and take pictures of it. I took off my oil pan to get the tab out that broke off the factory hub and decided to do rod bearings. Ordered arp rod bolts and found out a week later they were back ordered. Ordered more off ebay paid for two day air seller took 4 days to ship and then shipped them ground so hopefully wednesday I will have it back together. Also we are modify 4 more hubs for free if anybody interested pm me. Thank you guys.

We have one more hub to modify for free. So check your hub to see if you might need one. The hub in my car has 1120 miles on of today. We will be posting more pictures soon.

Bro Why dont you give a hib to one of the members here who offered to have it heat cycle tested at his work place? This will be a good way to prove that the mid to the hub is strong and reliable.

For one I have tried for months to get some broke hubs even offered to buy one no luck only one I have is in my car.
Two they could have sent me one and did what ever they wanted with it.
We also have done 5 of these for free and my brother said no more for free we have went thru about 200 dollars of tooling and about 50 hours work.
Plus I paid shipping back.
I also polished these and I had forgot what mess that made.
The stock hub will pass their test but put it in a car and it breaks that's where the test is in the car.
I'm sure mine would pass the test also.

Besides all they want to do is sit around and talk about fixing it and make demands to me. The guy that was going do the test also wants to make his own design maybe the ME at his work wants to copy what we have done. It's alot easier to copy than it is to do it the first time ask the Chinese. As much sh@@ that I have caught over this I couldn't get a fair test anyway. As slow as a car takes to heat to 210f there is no way my weld would ever crack. The most stress my weld ever sees is when it's being welded and as the weld cools down from about 2700f. There is no cracks no popping as it cools. A welder would know what I'm talking about but I guess there isn't a lot of welders that drive BMWs.
