We have the genuine BMW roof boxes available in two sizes. The 320 (smaller) and the 460 (pretty big). Below are some photos from BMWs website of the two roof boxes.

The genuine BMW basket can be found HERE. It is an all aluminum luggage basket.



The Cargo Carriers are fabric bags, below is a photo from BMWs website giving an idea of what they look like.

i want a half size basket that i can put beside my bike mount. Is there such a thing available? i use the bike mount more, but it would be nice to have a basket i could quickly move on and off as needed.

From my notes that's the largest one available from BMW at 1100 X 850 MM. Which is about 3.7 feet by 3 feet.

I'm also seeing a smaller one. It measures 1100mm by 550mm, which works out to a little over three and a half feet long by about 2 feet wide. It might be small enough to fit on your rack with the bike mount. You'll need to take some measurements and do a little guess work to figure it out if it would fit.

The end cap as seen as part 3 in the below diagram is no long available separate from the kit. Part 5 I believe is the tools you are referring to, it can be found HERE. Part 7 (protection foil) is no longer available out side of the kit. The "roof strip openers (part 8) can be found HERE.
