My Ride: 2003 330i
New330i owner and steering ?

I just bought a used 2003 330i, this is my first BMW. I've have several other types of sports cars, but nothing like this BMW. So this is like car learning all over. My black beauty has like 143k miles, was a bit skeptical but the price was right. So, one of my questions have already been answered on this forum, which is how I found the site, it was a brake issue, wear sensor as I understand it. My next question is about the power steering. I test drove a 2005 325i 5speed, and I don't remember the steering being as stiff/hard to turn as the 2003 I bought. I was told it was normal for a BMW, but even at slow speeds it's hard to turn with one hand. Just don't believe it should be like this. I popped the hood and looked for the power steering reservoir to check fluid, and welcome to BMW, I don't guess there is one. So what kind of power steering system does it use? So I'm thinking I need to take it in and get the alignment and suspension checked to see if any of this could be out and could be contributing to my problem. So I'm looking for any other suggestions or advice from you seasoned guys for me. Any and all info will be greatly appreciated. Any other info that a new Beamer owner needs to know would also greatly be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

the power steering reservoir is infront of the dipstick that has the words atf fluid only. screw off the top and take a look inside.

I have just bought a 2003 BMW 330i also. Man i'm really finding it hard turning the steering without using both hands. even with both hands its still hard. i'm beginning to think there is a problem because the steering in this car is supposed to be powered. so I'm wondering why its so stiff. i checked the fluid and every other thing, it all seems normal. I don't feel comfortable with that steering man.

You either have a serious clog, or your pump is broken if it feels like there's no power assist.
