The dynavins have been fairly good in this respect. For the record, Im a Pioneer and Parrot dealer also, and I have OEM bluetooth in 2 of 3 cars in my household so while im not an expert I do have a good amount of bluetooth experience....
On reflection I suspect you're absolute correct Jeff.
Thinking back, I used to have the occasional issue like this with my Sony bluetooth head unit, so I suppose the Dynavin is not doing anything different in that respect.

Still trying to get a dongle that will function with Android but we'll see how that goes....

Currently awaiting delivery of another dongle that someone else managed to get working ok.

But there is the possibility that it won't show the PDC screen at all? And if that is the case, my music shouldn't stop when I go into reverse?

Anyone know the correct codecs for video playback? I have a wince version d99 and I can't get any avi or mp4 converted video to playback, the sound playsback but an error or codec not supported also comes up when playing!

Reverse camera on D99 issues

Hi folks,

Hoping someone here may help.
My D99 has a reverse camera (bought from ebay) wired into it which auto switches when the car is shifted into reverse.

Problem is every 60 seconds or so the unit displays the top down image of a car (the same image that would show if you had PDC on your car).
When this happens the music cuts temporarily, then the image disappears and audio returns and everything is normal until roughly 60 seconds again when the above repeats itself

Can't understand what is wrong but it is very frustrating

Has anyone else experienced this issue?

I have tested 2 units both an Android and a Wince (e39) unit so i'm guessing it is the unit trying to report an issue with the reverse cam the annoying thing here is the reverse cam works fine during reverse - disconnecting the camera from the D99 resolves the issue but then no camera usage

Appreicate any help.

Do you mean in respect of using it to encode the media you're going to stick on an SD card, or another context?

I don't know if there's a way of adding support for specific codecs to the device itself as I'm not savvy enough with Android, but I'd be tempted to try different media playing apps as presumably they'll have the codecs built into them and some might work better than others?

you have an E39 dont you.....Ive seen this on some other e39s as well, the E39 does something weird with its lighting diagnostics and there is voltage on the reverse light circuit, the dynavin sees that voltage and its enough to cause it to switch. The solution is to put a relay on the reverse trigger wire to isolate the dynaivn from that voltage.....so the reverse light circuit triggers the relay, and the relay triggers the dynavin reverse wire.

Actually Jeff (or anyone please) could I ask do you know how to get the D99 buttons to illuminate when the unit has replaced factory OEM NAV on an e39?
I researched this and was told connect the orange wire to the red on the Dynavin connector and it should work but no luck with my system

Edit fixed this myself, the wires i spliced and joined ahd come lose when pushing the system back into the harness, all fixed now

Would be nice if someone could show how to wire the illumination for the Dynavin to the car lights so they would all switch on and off together

Wait, so the D99's button are always backlit, regardless of headlight switch position?

no, his situation is different, hes hard wiring his lights because his car didnt have a lighting circuit for the dynaivn in the factory plug (hes got an E39 with factory nav)....

CTRob, connect the orange wire to any dash lighting wire, ashtray light is an easy one to get to....

I can't help you I'm afraid as I've not fitted my reverse camera but it's good to find somebody else with a D99 fitted into an E39.

How have you wired in the camera? When I fitted my D99 I didnt connect the reverse wire to anything - its disconnected. The PDC display all works fine. Am I going to need to run an additional wire from the Dynavin to the camera at the back from that reverse wire in order to get it to work?

Do you have the issue where with the PDC in use it swaps out of PDC mode as soon as you disengage reverse? This means that basically you can't use the PDC function for front PDC, even though the unit supports it and will display the output from the front sensors if you are in reverse.

Also whats your OBC functionality like - seems us E39 users get a tad less than the E46's. I don't have remaining range or average economy - just litres in tank, outside temperature and coolant temp.
