Only the M3 has an oil temp sensor which is why it doesn't work on the dynavin.

I’m on day two now, and getting very frustrated. Tried to figle the unit into place, it won’t go all the way in. The gps elbow hits the backwall, and there is about 10-12mm before the unit is flush. And pls, I’m not making this up.
I’ve been watching videos and reading DIY’s, and I can’t see I’m doing anything wrong. Even if the gps elbow wasn’t there it seems like the Fakra connector would get in the way for a flush mounting. Any good advice is highly appreciated, (also for the missing illumination of the buttons/knobs). |

Read number 3 on the FAQ on my website.
If your gps plug is interfering you would be the first in thousands of dynavin installs so I doubt it. You have something else getting in the way.

Thanks for the illumination fix. I’ll do it tomorrow.
I actually see the gps elbow touching the plastic wall, so it’s not something "else". Do all of these units come with the same gps elbow? Is that “plastic wall” an air duct? Maybe I can use a heat gun and make a dent in it. |

Here you see the gps elbow touching the plastic wall
This is the gap when all the way in This is the plastic wall. Can it be some air duct, maybe I can make a dent with a heat gun? |

well that is weird, I wonder if your entire dash is a little bit out of alignment with the airbox or something.....BUT....a little gap is fairly normal, in fact if you go back to the old threads you will see my "glare fix" involves doing that on purpose....bending the bracket or putting washers behind the top bracket to get a little clearance, it causes the unit to tilt down a bit and changes the angle of reflection so you dont get as much rear window reflection on the screen.
BUT I also wonder from looking at those pics if you dont have some wiring behind/beneath the unit. if there is anything behind or under the unit it WILL NOT go all the way back.

Hmm.. its a mystery to me. I’m short on at least 15mm to have a proper install (we do want some clearance in the back). The dash looks perfectly in-line with the rest of the interior. And I’m not keen on having a gap there.
I’m as sure as one can be that all wires where out of the way in the back, I tried many times. Anyway, I’ll do another try tomorrow. |

well, what I am wondering is if something is under the back of the unit like the ipod cord, usb cord, antenna etc... causing the back to sit up too high and come in contact with the slanted part of the airbox....from the looks of the pictures it seems it would be able to go further back if it were sitting a little lower in the back....
Or not....I dont know, in the thousands of installs that have been done Ive never seen that....

^ You have cable/wires or something that's preventing it from sliding in properly.

maybe.... ive got another idea as well.....the plug for the GPS is threaded all the way through the back of the unit and held into the back of the unit with a nut and washer.....I wonder if his GPS plug is just threaded in too far out a position? If so the fix would be simple.....Ill have to take a look tomorrow when I get to the shop to confirm what I am thinking....

I've had my v5 unit installed for about a year now, and albeit a fairly solid a/v accessory, I've grown to have a slight love/hate relationship with it given the few functional gripes that were never addressed by Dynavin; Namely iPod control. Specifically song resume and track control from the steering wheel while playing audio. I know you can back out to the directory level then scroll/select an alternate song via the steering controls while a song is playing, but I'm referring to previous/next functionality.
Jeff, per your initial review it appears that some of these issues have been addressed in the D99. However, after reading through this thread I didn't see any mention of iPod in-song track control or resume after a call has been placed/received. Is this still an issue in the D99? Thanks for all the help!

songs resume, steering wheel buttons are track control. Hold the on screen arrow for fast forward/rewind.
The downside is that it doesn't like to back out of menus if you are going back multiple levels (not with my iPod at least), so if you want a different album You need to back out to the starting playlist/artist/album screen and select from there. But so far I'm the only person I have heard mention that so it must not bother anyone that much....It's not perfect but it's 100 times better than the way it used to be.

Hi jeff, did you find a chance to check reg. the gps plug thread? I’m almost flush, if I can get a few mm on the gps elbow I’ll call it a day.

OBC control - ibus
Hello all,
I just received my dvn-e46 d99 WinCe unit last night and have been preparing for the installation. After looking through the posts I noticed Jeff mentioned that in a few units a couple of wires for the OBC and steering control were reversed. Unfortunately I did not buy my unit from Jeff so I am not sure whether I have the correct wiring configuration. I've attached a picture of the harness connected to the ibus box and would really appreciate if someone could confirm whether its correct. Thank you for your support. |

I also had the fitment issue, the left rear corner hit the heater box and I could not get a satisfactory fit.
I used a heat gun to soften the heater box and gain a few millimeters and now have a proper fit. Other surprises were the military time that can't be switched to 12 hour. Can only stream music in the phone screen
