Don't kill Paaathurnax, he's mad cool. It's optional.

I love how he talks in a patois of English and Dragon.

That's up next, after I get another perk so I can grab the Daedric smithing skill. I went the other way up the skill tree and got Dragon smithing first. Then I learned that Daedric stuff is actually better.

Does anyone have any news on downloadable content for Skyrim? I had heard that Bethesda was planning to release some sort of expansion pack for the game. There's not much online news except for teaser reels and a few comments from Bethesda execs.

Nothing's been announced besides that free creative week summary. They want less add-ons and they're going to be more like expansion packs rather than dlc's. I doubt they'll release those before summer.

Bummer. I'm like you: I've finished all the main quests except Dark Brotherhood and now I'm reduced to wandering the hills looking for radiant quests. I've got like 180K in gold now, so I suppose I could just go buy houses all over Skyrim, but that gets boring too.

I'm a khajiit archer. I might make a new character, what do you recommend?

I have a high elf. My son has a Nord and an Imperial. I dunno that any of them are better than any other in the long run.

One hand, two hand?

Mage-- alteration, conjuration, destruction?

More along the terms I meant.

Disclaimer: before I picked up Skyrim, on a whim, right after Christmas, the last time I played any video game was more than 25 years ago. Remember Wizardry? Of course you don't.

So I've sort of gone in a bunch of directions with my guy. I was infatuated with two-handed weapons for a while, then double one-handed. Then I found a cool shield so I tried that for a while. Then I saw a picture of dragon armor and thought it looked cool so I applied all my perks towards smithing. I also learned a few spells and tried them out when I discovered that I sucked at archery.

So I'm probably not the best source for insight. I'm like a fifth-semester freshman at the local junior college--I've majored in everything but still haven't accomplished all that much, really.

I had completed pretty much every quest in the game save the main quest line and was half way through it until my 360 RROD

I may never finish skyrim now because I dont feel like spending 200 dollars on a new 360 anytime soon.

But then you get to play Barbie Home Designer and decorate your house with cool shields/swords that you make and hang on the walls. Enchant the weapons so they glow; they make sweet decorations that way. I went nuts for over an hour with the house I bought in Windhelm. Hell, I even put books on the bookshelves. This game is NOT good if you have OCD.

You can only buy 5 houses though, and one of them is buggier than hell (Solitude).

Yeah, I bought a bunch of enhancements for both the houses I have already. But as far as storing stuff, I just have a single chest in each house where I store everything. It takes me ten minutes to scroll through all the crap I have stored in each one.

After I invested in a trader and got him to level up to having 11,000-plus gold, I started selling off some of the more expensive artifacts and weapons and armor. So I have less crap cluttering up the place now.

My son just came downstairs to berate me for not playing Skyrim so I could level up and make Daedric armor.

I've created a monster.

Buying houses was the biggest thing for me in Oblivion. Something about owning a place and being able to steal anything in there, then realize they're all mine, gets me all giddy. It's the first time in all the rpg I played that I felt like I had a "home" in the story.
