Where to route mic wire from rear of head unit?

I just installed a single-din Alpine CDE-HD149BT. However, I'm having a hard time finding were to route the wire for the microphone. Basically, coming from the rear of the head unit, I can't find where to thread it through so I can mount it on the steering column base.

I was thinking I'd just run the wire tucked along the dash, but I'm having a hard time finding where to thread it through from the head unit compartment.

Any tips?

Thanks,

M.

Why do you want to mount the mic on the steering column base??? Most folks mount their mic in headliner next to the driver's sunshade. To do so they run the wire up the left "A" pillar and across the top of the windshield.

Mounting it at the base of the steering column should be a snap.

I guess my main problem is where to thread the mic cable once it comes out from the back of the head unit? I can't seem to find any openings on either side of the radio area in the dash. For example, if you were wanting to connect an iPod in your glovebox to your headunit's rear USB port, where would you thread the cable through? I can't find any openings. I need one on each side of the dash area where the radio sits. One for the mic wire to route out and to the drivers side (left) and one to route out to the right side and into the glove box. Do you have to remove panels or anything?

Thanks in advance,

M.
