Help Please Rear Diff Bushing
I am about 7 hours into replacing the rear diff bushing. Finally got the new busing pressed into the carrier. My concern is that one side is flush with the mount and the other side extends about 1.5cm beyond the mount. I can't make each side equal due to the tool that I am using. Picture are attached of what I am talking about. Any ideas of how this is supposed to be? Thanks in advance.

It's not actually supposed to be equal on each side. Are you using a home hashed tool or an actual rear diff tool?

I am actually renting the tool from a forum member here. It definitely isn't a BMW tool but was made using CNC and high grade steel. The bushing that I am using to replace the old one is Meyle HD, it seems to be a little wider.

You should be fine then. As long as you used the tool in the orientation outlined in the directions/illustrations you will be fine.

Okay. Thanks. Just wanted to make sure it was in properly prior to attaching the diff.

Just an update: Bushing turned out great and fixed the thump between shifts.
