Front Control Arm ?

I need to replace my front lower control arms and inner ball joints on my xi. I have seen a big difference in price. I have read that some people are not a fan of the cheaper mevotech but was wondering if anyone has experience with raybestos or knows where to get a good quality set from lemforder or meyle without spending 600 dollars for them. Anyone with any 2 cents to add or experience.

I am in the same boat. I am in the process of shopping around for both FCA's and ball joints. I am not sure if I even have or need to replace mine on the rear?? I have noticed that I get a clunk noise (as I do with the front) when I hit a bump in my back right trunk area when I go over a bump. Any input? I have looked for kits on ECS tuning and found some, but everything is so expensive.

I did my front control arm assemblies in early January, went with ECS's front suspension refresh kit (level 1) and got my inner ball joints from them too. I'm sure it's possible to find the parts for less with the right luck/effort combo (see promotions above) but DO get quality parts. It's your suspension afterall...

I don't think you'll find a better price than FCP Groton right now, which wouldve saved me $80!! Mine came out to ~$650 from ECS.

Its costly enough to own a bmw, now take a deep breath and realize you own an AWD bmw...now exhale. At least it's not an m3?

Men seriously! Only oem on this cars ! Or just sell it... Why?

You go cheap and you will end up with crappy steering/handling feeling.

Pay 650$ for oem! Avoid bumps and pot holes if you can and this 650$ will last another 130k, I say this because my xi silver 03. Has 135k and just the pass 6k I have noticed that I need to change my control arm and bushings and ball joint.

Symptoms: when steering the response as I look on my wheel from my seat is horrible.. I'll probably have to turn 180 degree to get 60 degree response .. I know! Fail tie rod..

symptoms; noise on bumps also rear Rtab.

I have saved up 1k. Ready to change brake/suspension soon!

Brake kit: rotor/sensor/pads from turnermotor 350$

Suspension kit:control arm/bushing oem/ ball joint plus 2 tie rod. 750-800$

hopefully it will all be worth the difference ! Duh... It's suppose too..

I know its expensive but in all reality the car is still a 10 year old car with high mileage. Throwing almost a grand into it after parts tires and an alignment isn't something that makes a ton of sense to me. On the other hand I know that the cheap stuff with just fail was hoping there was a happy medium.

Cheaper in the long run.

I have yet to find that doing something like this a second time ends up being cheaper than doing it right the first time.

You're driving a $40k sports sedan. The price of parts has come down substantially in the last few years also.

I second the FCP Groton suggestion. I ordered my passenger side front control arm & ball joint from them was quite pleased. Also, they saved me a bunch of money. I went with the Lemforder brand.

Good luck

Meyles won't work because of the setup. Check out the REALOEM diagrams to see the difference.

i think i'm in the same boat...just going to be doing the control arms and control arm bushings this coming when i get back...get a bad vibration going over 70km/h...and hearing this slight thud, thud when i go to brake...looked at the receipts, it was 3 years ago that they were done....with aftermarket ones....
