Speaker Rattles, Bass Sucks - HELP! *Already Searched*

hello,

so my speaker system in my 2004 325i is starting to give up on me, the bass sucks, it rattles and sounds horrible. im pretty sure its just the bass, because if i turn the bass off, all the way down, the music sounds alright.

so my question is, what speakers would i have to replace for the bass, and is there a fix for these or would i have to buy new ones. Please let me know, i need to listen to my music with bass.

thanks everyones!

Just shove T shirts into the parcel deck above the subwoofer. Rattles will go away.

It can be the parcel deck vibrating as mentioned, or blown midbass drivers in the door right beneath the handle. Put your hand on those speakers while music is playing and see if the sound changes. They aren't a standard size, so you have to use BSW ones or OE as far as I know.

3 tennis balls in the rear shelf would take care of the rattling from the subs from rear.

However, if the door speakers are blown(like mine ) then only option is to replace them.

One of my rear deck speakers was blown and was buzzing like a fly? (not sure what buzzes liek that lol) So I just unplugged it since i sit in the front lol. Also my drivers side tweets AND mids are starting to buzz. I think I am going to wait it out till its financially sound to either purchase BSW stage 1 (or 2 if theyre out by then) speakers or even just get some dope rainbows or something of that nature. As for bass.... tons of options..

If you don't have the money right now do what I did, I disabled both rear deck speakers. You remove the grill, unscrew the bolts, then disconnect the connectors under the speaker. My bass actually sounds pretty good right now, and it was a very simple thing to do.

Make sure you're sitting down when you see prices. Check Audio forum for other alternatives, but aFAIK there are none.

That "blown" speaker sound can be misleading. If you're willing to take things apart, do that first. I had a right front speaker and rear subwoofers (HK system) that I swear were gone. Front speaker turned out to be a loose mount (speaker goes on mount, mount goes on door), and the rear sub woofers' entire carrier (the plastic box that carries the HK woofer assembly) was loose on all screws by more than a full turn for some. I also put some additional insulation in there while I had the rear deck apart for painting.

It feels good to crank it up now, and all it cost me was a few hours of my time, aka free.

Thanks so much for the information guys. im deciding in taking my door and back ones off first to see if its just loose wiring or screws, but how should this be done? i searched and found that i have to take the wholleee door panel off.? is there anything easier like just popping the speaker grill off and going from there?

also, about how much would a BSW speaker system cost me?

Door panel has to come off. You can find BSW prices if you read the thread.

Rear shelf speakers, and tweeters. They go first. Rear shelf is about $30 for each speaker from ecstuning.com

They keep moving stuff around on their website...just look hard, it's there
