My only experience with Impressive is that they posted a M3 part-out and I requested some prices on parts. They never replied to my email so I gave up. No big deal but not the way I like to do business.

thank you, this has been one of the most intelligent responses I have received here, just reading through some of the propaganda people post immediately without knowing any facts is just mind boggling.

+1 Absolutely agree with this. It's unfortunate to hear stories like the OP's, I am sure many of us have been through shops and have had similar horror stories. In the business, sh!t happens, people are not perfect mistakes can be made, however it is about how issues are handled that is most important. It is rather clear that impressive fell short in that regard. I hope Vinny's M3 gets straightened out, it would be a shame to see such a gorgeous representation of an E46 M3 remain parked and plagued by lingering issues from the impressive debacle.

Hearing experiences like the OP's I am not surprised to see that BBB rates Impressive with an F....

Before posting in this thread I want to state a few things.
1. I am in no way shape or form here to bash another vendor in order to gain anything.
2. I am not here to post any biased opinion
3. I am only here to clear the air of the OP.

Firstly,
I have been on this forum for a few years now. OP has owned that m3 for a VERY VERY long time. Yes i do have a personal relationship with the OP that is nothing to hide. I have been in this car many of times. I have seen him maintain the car, I have seen the way he details his cars. I know how meticulous he is with all of his cars.

With that said, what has happened here is a tragedy. This m3 was one always one of my favorite cars. It is by far the cleanest and best maintained car I have ever seen. This car is better than showroom condition and for those who say that the OP is stuck up or too proud of his car you all are wrong. In terms of money spent, the list is on going and not once has any expense been spared in order to keep this car in tip top shape. We have always gone back and fourth about him selling the car, but we always agree it would be such a shame to get rid of such a perfect car. I know for a fact the OP made it very clear how he wanted this job done. "I told them i dont care how long it takes as long as its perfect" "when the car is done its done" "what ever parts it needs order them i dont care how much". The OP does have the capability of saying these things because he is very fortunate but he does not say them out of ignorance, he knows his fair share about what should and should not be happening when fixing a car. His 800whp turbo has a mere 7,000 miles on it. and has won awards for the paint, body work and just how flawless it is. For someone to come on here and say that the OP is too meticulous and that "it is a bmw, it wont be perfect" "and that he is selfish" is very wrong and honestly just plain stupid. This car is a 10/10 all around, and the fact of the matter is that the car never had any problems until this all started. I know for fact he would have waited a year as long as it was properly done and he got a phone call a couple times a week even if it is just to say whats up. Time nor money was the issue here. The issue is that when the car went into the shop it came out worked for 400 miles of the break-in period which i spent with him and he was doing the proper break-in by the way. The car came out of the shop with more problems than when it went into the shop and that is fact. Impressive did a poor job at handling potentially one of the best customers he could have had and they are only to blame. This is a public forum in where customer, vendors, friends and family can voice their opinions and experience. OP took the time to write out a very well written review and shared some pictures of the damage. Yes they fixed the bumper, but they shouldnt have had to fix it in the first place, yes they smoked and dyed it for free etc etc. but that should have never happened. and yes Murphy's Law of what can go wrong will go wrong directly applies to the car world, but the other half of what makes a business successful is the way they customers are treated. If I have a customer who is paying more than the price of many peoples cars in this thread i will most definitely spend 2 extra hours at the shop to wait. It is common curtesy.

Again, I am only here to clarify the details of the OP and his car prior to it being worked on by impressive not to bash or be biased. I had a first hand account with the OP and his situation and am only here to voice the facts that i know.

Goodluck to the OP. and hopefully we get our M3's back onto the back roads soon!

[QUOTE=lennon31987;14035916]What a joke. This is a TOTAL fabrication. just purely BS.

Wow, I figured that it was your imola M that I saw in the pain booth. I have not had anything done at the shop that was major but I'm thinking twice now about getting my valve job done there. The bbb post scares me more. I know how the fan boi's act on here with their shop of choice and it is so hilarious and obvious when they try and slander someone or another shop.

I saw your car months ago, crazy how the issues are still going on. The car had a layer of dust on it from sitting and that was during the summer. I hope that you get everything worked out and your car back in tip top shape. It looked very tastefully modded when I saw it. Good luck.

They fixed your bumper for free which you didn't even show any pics. You can't even say for sure if the other shop did this or not.

Now the problem with your engine. Your car is not new. There are things that could go wrong and I know that they would look into and try to make sure its resolved. Impressive has been in business not because of one time scams. They have been in business because they have continued to offer reliable and good valued service for many years. Lets be clear about this. Years, not 1. Not 6 months. But many many years. They have a lot of experience with these vehicles. You have a vehicle that needs special parts. They don't keep cars because they want to. That place is always full of vehicles and they NEED to move cars out of there.

Every business is going to have unhappy customers which we should understand. But if anything happens the Impressive shop is always trying to make it up. Everything you said they have tried to fix. So yeah, its ok for you to post your experience but make sure all the facts are there.

A good business is a business that tries to make the customer happy even when he's unhappy. Impressive has offered to fix anything for you. If anybody can't read then go up there and read it again.
Great shop ? with a BBB F rating ?

Impressive auto collision is different from the Impressive auto shop that OP mentioned. You can check the address and you will know.

OP I feel your pain. My car is hardly an M3 but I still try to get it the best care that I can. Now working in customer service i know first hand that as hard as you try you'll never be able to make EVERYONE happy, and as a customer i also expect the best service wherever i spend my money. OP had a bad experience, it happens. If you weren't happy after several visits this obviously wasn't the shop for you and I hope you find that shop.

As far as those worrying about trying impressive, I've gone to a few different shops that were highly recommended and I've never felt as comfortable with their work as I did with Impressive. Been going for 2 years and their the reason my car which ran like **** runs smooth as butter. I recently had my radiator installed elsewhere because I didnt feel like traveling from long island to maspeth, and ofcourse it failed on me. John found the problem and took care of it, didnt even need a new part. The guy knows everything there is to know about these cars. It's hard finding an honest mechanic that also knows what hes doing so I wouldnt write them off purely based on this experience.

This is a tough call, I understand the business perspective and the customers perspective. I think this is a situation where things didn't work out. You always have to remember what works for one person doesn't always work for the next.

Sorry to hear the OP had a bad experience, but every shop will have disatisfied customers at some point and of course we all know there's always 2 sides to every story. No point in bashing one shop and then promoting another, its obvious the fanboys of some shops are coming out of the woodwork all of a sudden to knock a competitor, pretty sad.
